Recap by phillip woo

Raging favourite Grimmy was handily ridden two off the stands side and eventually got going to get up in the final few metres to remain unbeaten in two runs in a fast time. He remains one to follow. Dane Patrol was sailing on the front as expected, was still nearly two lengths clear at the 200m and found one better in the end. It was a nice effort after setting swift fractions. Oriental Prosper settled a prominent third and one off the stands side, worked to second at the 250m and kept plugging away. Sir Eagles settled fourth from the rear on the outside rails, shifted inside underneath Grimmy at the 400m and made some progress. Hawthorne kept grinding away in a battle for fourth. Winnie's Horse was handy in the run in the centre of the course and stayed on well. Disciples Twelve was under pressure at the 500m and kept on one-paced. Castle Hero rushed forward from an inside gate to quickly assume a spot underneath Dane Patrol in second but was stopping 250m out. Dapper Boy appeared to go amiss and was allowed to fade out of things at the 300m.

Racing Incident Report

Race Nine: (451)-LION CITY HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1000Metres

DISCIPLES TWELVE and CASTLE HERO bumped at the start.

Passing the 800 Metres, DISCIPLES TWELVE was momentarily awkwardly placed outside the heels of DELIGHT FORTUNE which shifted out.

After the 800 Metres, GRIMMY shifted in, resulting in MENTOR racing tight between that horse and DAPPER BOY.

Over the final 400 Metres, EVERYONE'S CHOICE got its head on the side, hung out and proved difficult to ride.

Passing the 100 Metres, MENTOR was momentarily crowded for room between WINNIE'S HORSE and CASTLE HERO, both of which shifted ground.

W M Lai reported that DAPPER BOY felt unbalanced in its action over the latter stages of the race.

After the race, DAPPER BOY collapsed.

When questioned, T Clark stated that with the strong early pace, FORMULA WON was not able to travel comfortably at the rear of the field.

He said he commenced to niggle the horse along from the 800 Metres to have it improve its position, however, the speed of the race was too quick and FORMULA WON got out of its ground in the early stages.

He added the pace of the race continued to be strong and he had to ride FORMULA WON along from the 500 Metres to have it improve its position.

He said over the final 400 Metres when placed under full pressure the horse then responded to his riding and closed off the race strongly, particularly over the final 200 Metres.

A veterinary inspection of CASTLE HERO immediately following the race did not show any significant findings, however, the horse was unable to be scoped.

A veterinary inspection of EVERYONE'S CHOICE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

GRIMMY and DANE PATROL were sent for sampling.
