Recap by phillip woo

Favourite Sterling City was patiently ridden fourth from the rear and one off the fence, pushed into the clear with two wider out upon straightening, swept to the front 150m out and held off the late-dash of New Deerfield for the win. Well-punted late, New Deerfield was pulling hard early on at the tail of the field along the fence, shifted into the clear with one wider out at the 300m and finished up full of running to be a clear second. He's put things in order after a gelding operation. California Bounty went straight to the front as expected, turned the final bend three deep and a length on top and gave way late in a pleasing debut performance. Fancied late, Cape Canaveral settled midfield and one off the rails, straightened three deep and kept plugging away. Able Speed settled one off the fence in second, straightened five deep and came up one-paced over the final 150m. Roman Soldier ran on steadily late without menacing. Fionn's Treasure kept on evenly. Second favourite, Windicator Star didn't let down on the dead section of the track.
