Recap by phillip woo

Vital Gold settled behind midfield and one off the rails, swung the final bend with two wider out and let down nicely to take control 100m out for the win with late-market action. Amazingly travelled underneath Vital Gold behind midfield, straightened four deep and finished up well to get up a clear second. He's improving with each start. Absolute Fantasy worked to the lead three deep at the 150m and lost the Quinella spot 50m out. Circuit Star made his run last along the fence after breaking in the air at the start, doing some fine work late to just miss out on a placing. Noble Boy settled fifth between runners, came one off upon straightening and was pipped late for fourth. Winning Apex made his run second from the rear and one off the rails, rounded the final bend widest out and was getting going late. Favourite Mighty K went a steady clip on the speed, was hounded by Good Luck Win at the 1,000m, cornered a length on top and was running on empty 100m out. Punted late, Care Free Pegasus settled worse than midfield along the rails, bumped the running rail rounding the final bend, steadied behind horses at the 150m and kept on evenly. Emperor Claudius settled midfield without cover, took closer order at the 600m, cornered in six deep and was struggling 150m out.

Racing Incident Report

Race Six: (494)-LOK FU HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1650Metres

As the start was effected, CIRCUIT STAR lifted its front feet off the ground and consequently was slow to begin.

Shortly after the start, ALPHA GRAND shifted out and bumped VITAL GOLD.

From the outside barrier, WINNING APEX was taken across behind runners shortly after the start.

GOOD LUCK WIN travelled wide and without cover until after passing the 1000 Metres at which time EMPEROR CLAUDIUS was left racing wide and without cover.

Passing the 1000 Metres, CIRCUIT STAR commenced to over-race and was awkwardly placed close to the heels of AMAZINGLY.

Rounding the Home Turn, CARE FREE PEGASUS became unbalanced when badly crowded for room inside NOBLE BOY which, after improving into tight running inside MY HOME TOWN, was then taken in slightly by that horse which itself was racing tight inside EMPEROR CLAUDIUS.

As the Stewards were of the opinion that there was no rider error involved in this incident, no further action was taken.

AMAZINGLY, which was following, was hampered in consequence.

At the entrance to the Straight, AMAZINGLY was awkwardly placed close to the heels of MY HOME TOWN which was racing in restricted room inside EMPEROR CLAUDIUS.

After the 200 Metres, CARE FREE PEGASUS was held up for clear running inside NOBLE BOY and behind MIGHTY K.

In the Straight, EMPEROR CLAUDIUS hung in and proved difficult to ride.

After the race, Y T Cheng (ALPHA GRAND) reported that the horse hung out when making the turns.

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of MIGHTY K, T Angland stated that the horse travelled well in the lead until GOOD LUCK WIN improved its position to be racing outside of MIGHT K near the 900 Metres.

He said when this happened MIGHTY K commenced to travel more keenly and did not relax as it did in the early stages.

He said after the 600 Metres MIGHTY K commenced to travel more comfortably, however, he placed the horse under pressure at the entrance to the Straight and after quickening briefly the horse then came under pressure and was disappointing in its failure to respond to his riding for the remainder of the race.

A veterinary inspection of MIGHTY K immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

A veterinary inspection of MY HOME TOWN, ALPHA GRAND and CARE FREE PEGASUS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

MIGHTY K, VITAL GOLD and AMAZINGLY were sent for sampling.
