Recap by phillip woo

Early favourite D Day Super got the dream run along the rails in four, pushed three deep upon straightening, went to the front 100m out and repelled the challenge of Secret Of Winning for a bob of heads victory. Smacked late to jump favourite, Secret Of Winning settled just outside and behind D Day Super, rounded the final bend four-to-five deep and came to make it a thriller over the final 100m. Highland Dragon let down nicely to get up 10m from the line for a placing. He's at or near a rating bottom, but may need a drop in grade to put him over the top for the first time. Flashing Guy settled midfield and one or two off the rails, shifted off the eventual Quinella pair approaching the 200m and ran on steadily. Golden Bauhinia was posted outside the leader Ever Beauty, assumed the front 250m out and was stopping 100m out. Expedience kept grinding away. Joyful Luck made his run outside Highland Dragon from a wide gate, peeled into the clear with one wider out soon after straightening and made some late ground.

Racing Incident Report

Race One: (526)-CHIU LUNG HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1000Metres

POWER COOL was badly crowded for room at the start between GOLDEN BAUHINIA and LUCKY RED, both of which shifted ground.

EXPEDIENCE, which was leaning on the outside of its stall as the start was effected, began awkwardly.

Shortly after the start, PENNY LANE was steadied away from the heels of FLASHING GUY which got its head on the side and shifted out.

From the outside barrier, FRIENDS OF YAN OI was taken across behind runners shortly after the start.

Making the turn near the 500 Metres, EXPEDIENCE got its head on the side and lay in.

At the entrance to the Straight, FLASHING GUY was shifted in from behind SECRET OF WINNING after being awkwardly placed close to the heels of that horse for a short distance.

FLASHING GUY then had difficulty obtaining clear running until passing the 200 Metres.

Over the final 200 Metres, HIGHLAND DRAGON got its head on the side and lay in under pressure.

Throughout the race, LUCKY RED travelled wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground.

After the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on JOYFUL LUCK at the request of Trainer C W Chang.

The Veterinary Surgeon said this examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea.

Before being allowed to race again, JOYFUL LUCK will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Also after the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that FLASHING GUY had lost its left front plate.

A veterinary inspection of EVER BEAUTY immediately following the race revealed the horse to have bled from both nostrils.

D DAY SUPER and SECRET OF WINNING were sent for sampling.
