Recap by phillip woo

Medallist settled fifth and one off the rails, cornered in four deep and ran on steadily to eventually get the job done 50m out for the win after a positive performance on the dirt. Odds-on favourite Little Men was caught three deep with some cover around midfield, worked to a narrow lead at the 200m and found one better in the end carrying top weight. Specked late, Golden Scalpel crossed sharply to lead along the rails from gate eight, then gave up the front to Verdane at the 1,400m, narrowly reclaimed the lead at the 250m and went down fighting. Level Player was posted three deep in a position worse than midfield and scraped home fourth best ahead of the long-priced Malhechor Gold, who bided his time at the tail of the field and was full of running down the centre of the course in an improved performance. Cool Bean enjoyed a dream run on the back of the speed in third or fourth along the rails and found a few of them too smart over the last 100m. He'll need to come down a class. Enthusiasm stayed on OK in an improved performance following a gelding operation and step up in distance. He may be worth keeping safe when next stepping out over a more ideal mile distance.

Racing Incident Report

Race Ten: (571)-AUDEMARS PIGUET ROYAL OAK OFFSHORE HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1800Metres

ENGROSSING lifted its front feet off the ground as the start was effected and consequently was slow to begin.

Approaching the 1500 Metres, ENGROSSING shifted in abruptly way from the heels of LEVEL PLAYER, resulting in MALHECHOR GOLD being hampered.

After the 1100 Metres, LITTLE MEN was left racing wide and without cover.

Near the 700 Metres, COOL BEAN was awkwardly placed close to the heels of GOLDEN SCALPEL.

ENTHUSIASM had difficulty obtaining clear running until after the 300 Metres.

After the race, Z Purton reported that OXFORD CHARLEY did not feel comfortable in its action when giving ground in the Straight.

A veterinary inspection of OXFORD CHARLEY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

A veterinary inspection of ENGROSSING immediately following the race revealed the horse to have bled from both nostrils.

MEDALLIST and LITTLE MEN were sent for sampling.
