Recap by phillip woo

Great Renown was switched off along the rails at the back, made some ground along the inside entering the straight, shifted five deep at the 300m and finished off willingly to get up in the last stride for the victory with a drop in grade. Apollo Cavalier enjoyed he box-seat run, rushed to the lead along the fence at the 200m and was pipped on the line. Plunged late, Hong Kong Fat settled midfield and near the inside, switched off the rails at the 250m and finished up well for a placing. Fay Deep settled midfield and one off the rails, cornered in four deep and stayed on well with a move to blinkers and a crossed nose band. Triumphant Way recovered after a slow break to travel behind midfield and on the rails and finished off well when the race was all over. He can win a race with a return to Class Five. Odds-on pop, Sichuan Exec was never better than four deep and without cover. He had excuses. City Delight edged passed tiring rivals and Rocket Proud was flat after cover ground - each with late-market support at long odds. Great Pegasus went a bit too quickly on the lead while hounded early on by Perfect Moment, cornered just over a length on top and was stopping 300m out.

Racing Incident Report

Race Four: (604)-THE MACWHINNIE CUP (HANDICAP) - Class 4 - 1400Metres

TRIUMPHANT WAY began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped the hindquarters of HONG KONG FAT.

When being steadied with a view to being taken across behind runners shortly after the start, YOUNG TALENT got its head up on a number of occasions and raced ungenerously for a short distance.

Despite being vigorously ridden along in the early stages, ALL THE WINNERS was slow to muster speed and throughout the race travelled wide and without cover.

Approaching the 1000 Metres, SICHUAN EXEC shifted in and bumped CITY DELIGHT which became unbalanced and shifted in, resulting in DREAM PARTNER racing in restricted room outside TRIUMPHANT WAY.

After this, DREAM PARTNER commenced to travel keenly and proved difficult to settle.

Approaching the 300 Metres, DASHING FORTUNE and FAY DEEP bumped and became unbalanced due to both horses shifting ground.

After this, FAY DEEP got its head on the side and hung in under pressure.

When questioned, D Whyte stated that, from barrier 13, he had been asked to position SICHUAN EXEC in the second half of the field.

He said after the 1200 Metres he attempted to shift in and obtain a position behind CITY DELIGHT with cover behind midfield, however, that horse, despite being ridden along, was unable to hold its position and he was not able to shift SICHUAN EXEC behind that horse.

He said because of this SICHUAN EXEC was left racing very wide approaching the first turn.

He added when CITY DELIGHT continued to give ground, he was able to shift in slightly near the 800 Metres but was still left racing in a four wide position and largely without cover.

He said rounding the Home Turn SICHUAN EXEC became unbalanced when bumped by YOUNG TALENT which shifted out to obtain clear running.

He said considering the circumstances of the race, SICHUAN EXEC then found the line fairly despite being one-paced.

A veterinary inspection of SICHUAN EXEC immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

A veterinary inspection of GREAT PEGASUS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

SICHUAN EXEC, GREAT RENOWN and APOLLO CAVALIER were sent for sampling.
