Recap by phillip woo

Punted late to jump favourite, Sure Champ was patiently ridden fourth from the rear and one off the rails from a wide gate, swung the final bend with two wider out and finished up willingly to take control 50m out with a drop in grade. Sabina was effectively one-out, one-back in the run, rushed to the front 650m out, cornered nearly two lengths on top and kept on reasonably well to just hold second. Able Dragon was switched off second from the rear and near the inside, swung the final bend with three wider out and finished up well to snatch third in a blanket finish. Glory Of India settled midfield and one off the rails, cornered in five-to-six deep, worked to third at the 50m and was swamped in the dying stages. Early favourite, Gold Tartini settled on the back of the speed in fourth along the rails, straightened four deep and kept plugging away with every chance to just finish out of the First-4. Mirage R went forward to settle outside the leader Tipperary Davor, straightened three deep and kept on one-paced over the final 200m with every chance. Dark Secret enjoyed all the favours all the inside in midfield, pulled out four deep at the 250m and kept plugging away without menacing in another disappointing performance.

Racing Incident Report

Race One: (611)-AP LEI CHAU HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1800Metres

PERFECT TEN began very awkwardly and lost ground.

ABLE DRAGON became unbalanced shortly after the start when bumped by MIRAGE R which in turn was taken out by TIPPERARY DAVOR which shifted ground after being bumped by CHANTILLY.

From wide barriers, SURE CHAMP and KING GALILEO were taken across behind runners shortly after the start.

Passing the winning post on the first occasion, PERFECT TEN raced tight inside GLORY OF INDIA which was awkwardly placed inside the heels of EAST OCEAN.

Near the 1300 Metres, SURE CHAMP was hampered when racing in restricted room inside CHANTILLY and close to the heels of GLORY OF INDIA.

Passing the 1300 Metres, EAST OCEAN shifted out away from the heels of SABINA which was taken wider by GOLD TARTINI which got its head on the side and shifted out across the heels of MIRAGE R.

After this, EAST OCEAN was left racing wide and without cover.

Making the turn after the 1000 Metres, SABINA shifted out when proving difficult to settle and awkwardly placed close to the heels of MIRAGE R.

SABINA then continued to prove difficult to settle and near the 900 Metres was allowed to improve its position into the lead.

Making the turn after the 600 Metres, GLORY OF INDIA raced tight between EAST OCEAN and GOLD TARTINI.

Approaching the 500 Metres, TIPPERARY DAVOR momentarily raced tight inside MIRAGE R.

In the early part of the Straight, GLORY OF INDIA got its head on the side and lay in under pressure.

Approaching the 150 Metres, DARK SECRET was momentarily steadied when unable to improve between MIRAGE R and GOLD TARTINI, both of which shifted slight ground.

A veterinary inspection of PERFECT TEN immediately following the race revealed the horse to be lame in its right front leg.

Before being allowed to race again, PERFECT TEN will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

A veterinary inspection of CHANTILLY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

SURE CHAMP and SABINA were sent for sampling.
