Recap by phillip woo

Super Fresh sat on the back of the speed in second along the rails, easily assumed the front at the 400m, cornered four deep and two lengths on top and kept on gamely for the win. Firming favourite Croesus settled midfield and on the rails, was asked to pick up ground one off at the 450m, swung the final bend with three wider out and ran on nicely to get into the runner-up spot 50m out. Fancied late, B Choice bided his time second from the rear, shifted into the middle of the course at the 300m and finished willingly to grab third in the final few strides in a pleasing first start at the Valley. Windicator Power was travelling in the one-out, one-back position, straightened three deep and kept plugging away to just miss a placing. Diamond Elegance settled behind midfield after a sluggish break, swung the final bend with one wider out and was making some ground late without menacing. Hawthorne was deep and without cover near the speed, straightened with two further out and held his ground to the line. It wasn't a bad performance after a hard run. Gold Edition travelled ahead of midfield and on the rails, stayed to the paint upon straightening and failed to lift in a rather flat performance. Double Master led at all costs from gate 11 and was struggling soon after straightening.

Racing Incident Report

Race Five: (633)-NG TUNG RIVER HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1000Metres

DOUBLE MASTER shifted in at the start and bumped DIAMOND ELEGANCE.

GOLD EDITION began awkwardly.

From wide barriers, MASSIVE and DEMOKLES were taken across behind runners shortly after the start.

B CHOICE was also shifted across behind runners shortly after the start.

Passing the 800 Metres, B CHOICE was awkwardly placed close to the heels of MASSIVE.

Approaching the 600 Metres, GOLD EDITION commenced to prove difficult to settle and shifted out when awkwardly placed close to the heels of SUPER FRESH and in doing so raced tight inside WINDICATOR POWER.

Rounding the Home Turn, GOLD EDITION was checked and lost ground when crowded for room inside WINDICATOR POWER (Z Purton) which at this time improved to be racing inside the heels of DOUBLE MASTER which got its head on the side and shifted out slightly.

The Stewards advised Z Purton that whilst they were satisfied that WINDICATOR POWER had caused this incident by racing keenly and improving inside the heels of DOUBLE MASTER where there was insufficient room, nonetheless he should, wherever possible, make every endeavour to prevent his mounts from improving into awkward positions.

Throughout the race, SUNSHINE KID travelled wide and without cover.

A veterinary inspection of GOLD EDITION immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

SUPER FRESH and CROESUS were sent for sampling.
