Recap by phillip woo

Well-punted late, Lucky Forever rolled forward from a wide gate to settle second and one off the rails at the 1,600m, was back to third when Sunny Ying rolled forward to lead at the 1,200m on the back of stop-start slow fractions, cornered four deep, wore down Sunny Ying for the lead at the 250m and held off the late burst of the late-punted Lucky Omens to remain unbeaten in two career runs over this trip. Lucky Omens was a bit flat-footed at the 250m after straightening, but got going strongly over the last 150m to make it interesting at the finish in his initial run over 2,000m. He's still improving and remains one to follow. Sunny Ying went down fighting under a big weight. Enthusiasm was finishing up full of running. It was a good run in defeat on the back of an unfavourable pace. Towering Storm rolled forward from the tail of the field after a sluggish break to travel three deep with cover behind midfield at the 1,400m, and kept on steadily late. Malhechor Gold ran on late without menacing. Classic Jewellery came up one-paced over the final 150m with every chance.

Racing Incident Report

Race Nine: (681)-LO WU SADDLE CLUB HANDICAP - Class 3 - 2000Metres

TRAVEL BRAND was slow to begin.

From a wide barrier, TOWERING STORM was taken across behind runners shortly after the start.

In the early stage, SUNNY YING was left racing wide and without cover and passing the 1300 Metres was allowed to stride forward into the lead.

Near the 1400 Metres, GREAT AND BEYOND got its head up when awkwardly placed close to the heels of CLASSIC JEWELLERY.

ENTHUSIASM, which was following, was checked away from the heels of GREAT AND BEYOND in consequence.

After this, GREAT AND BEYOND proved difficult to settle and had to be checked away from the heels of CLASSIC JEWELLERY for some distance.

Passing the 1000 Metres, TRAVEL BRAND commenced to prove difficult to settle, got its head up and shifted out when awkwardly placed close to the heels of LUCKY OMENS, resulting in GREAT AND BEYOND being hampered when bumped by TRAVEL BRAND.

AGIAAL, which was following TRAVEL BRAND, was hampered in consequence.

Then near the 800 Metres, TRAVEL BRAND again shifted out when awkwardly placed close to the heels of LUCKY OMENS.

Approaching the 800 Metres, LUCKY FOREVER was taken in to a three wide position without cover when SHINY DAY shift to the outside of SUNNY YING.

Between the 400 Metres and the 300 Metres, TRAVEL BRAND had to be steadied when held up for clear running.

Approaching the 200 Metres, NAVEL ORANGE was awkwardly placed outside the heels of KING OF SCOTS.

C Y Ho (HEAR THE ROAR) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 250 Metres after racing tight inside LUCKY OMENS, he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of AGIAAL, resulting in that horse having to be checked and to lose the running to which it was rightfully entitled.

C Y Ho was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Thursday, 27 June 2013 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays).

The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Happy Valley racemeeting on Wednesday, 19 June 2013.

In addition, C Y Ho was fined $30,000 in lieu of a suspension for a period incorporating one further raceday.

A veterinary inspection of TRAVEL BRAND immediately following the race did not show any significant findings, however, the horse was unable to be scoped.
