Recap by phillip woo

Favourite Flying Elite enjoyed the perfect run in fourth along the rails, stayed to the inside upon straightening, worked to the lead at the 200m and kept on willingly to score a second straight win over this trip. Bullish Boy set a good pace on the lead, cornered a length on top and grudgingly gave way to come home a clear-cut second, despite the step up to a mile. Oyster bided his time behind midfield and one off the rails, straightened five deep and finished up willingly to snatch a placing in the final few metres from Optimization Star, who was switched off second from the back along the rails, straightened four deep and found the line reasonably well. The latter has come right in his past two starts and won't be far off a winning run with Class Five on the horizon as well. Ambitious Treasure settled fourth from the rear and on the rails, straightened two-to-three deep, loomed a place chance at the 100m and came up flat soon after. Heart Wood settled third and one off the rails with Good Luck Win passing him to his outside at the 850m, straightened four deep and came up one-paced over the final 150m.

Racing Incident Report

Race Four: (707)-SIR CECIL'S RIDE HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1650Metres

AMBITIOUS TREASURE and VERY WELL were tightened for room at the start between STEP FASTER and HEART WOOD, both of which shifted ground.

From wide barriers, OPTIMIZATION STAR and SURE CHAMP were taken across behind runners shortly after the start.

Passing the 1100 Metres, STEP FASTER got its head up when awkwardly placed close to the heels of HEART WOOD.

For a short distance at the entrance to the Straight, VERY WELL was hampered when obliged to shift out away from the heels of SIGHT LOVER which was directed out away from the heels of STEP FASTER and GOOD LUCK WIN, both of which were giving ground.

Throughout the race, GOOD LUCK WIN travelled wide and without cover and after the 500 Metres got its head on the side and hung out.

GOOD LUCK WIN then gave ground in the Straight and finished tailed out.

A veterinary inspection of GOOD LUCK WIN immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

The performance of GOOD LUCK WIN was considered unacceptable.

Before being allowed to race again, GOOD LUCK WIN will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Whilst the Stewards were satisfied that the riding of H W Lai (AMBITIOUS TREASURE), 5th placegetter, over the concluding stages did not affect the horses finishing position, he was nonetheless reminded of his obligation to ride his mounts out at least hands and heels to the end of the race where circumstances permit.

After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that VERY WELL had lost its left front plate.

When questioned, G Mossé stated that he was able to obtain a good position on STEP FASTER behind the speed.

He said STEP FASTER travelled in a similar manner to its most recent start when the horse finished second and he expected, given the manner in which the race was run and the way that STEP FASTER was travelling, that the horse was able to finish off its race tonight.

He said however that after travelling strongly at the 500 Metres, STEP FASTER immediately came under pressure before the 400 Metres and despite being ridden along rounding the Home Turn and in the early part of the Straight gave ground alarmingly and raced in the manner of a horse which may be exhibiting a problem.

He added after the race STEP FASTER was slow to recover although it appeared sound in its action.

A veterinary inspection of STEP FASTER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Having in mind Jockey Mossés evidence and after viewing the videos, the Stewards considered the performance of STEP FASTER, which finished second at its most recent start, to be unacceptable.

Before being allowed to race again, STEP FASTER will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

A veterinary inspection of SURE CHAMP immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

FLYING ELITE and BULLISH BOY were sent for sampling.
