Recap by phillip woo

Pleasure Gains travelled one off in second, was back to third with Plain Red Banner rolling up at the 800m, rallied three deep upon straightening, worked to the front at the 300m and kept finding, despite wandering out over the final 100m, to claim his first win at only his fourth start with the claim of Alvin Ng Ka-chun. Firming favourite Khaya settled behind midfield and three-to-four deep, rolled forward to midfield at the 1,000m, shifted into the clear with three wider out at the 400m and finished up well to wear down the late-fancied Real General for second. Real General settled fifth and one off the rails, straightened four deep, worked to second at the 250m and kept on well, despite being taken out in the drive to line, to hold down third. King On Earth was hitting the line with purpose, along with Surrounded. Life Of Beauty made some late progress without threatening. Shantaraam kept on one-paced over the final 200m in another disappointing effort, despite a drop in grade. Mobile King was never likely. Plain Red Banner was stopping 200m out.

Racing Incident Report

Race Six: (717)-OMEGA HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1600Metres

SHANTARAAM began only fairly.

From wide barriers, MOBILE KING and PRINCE OF SUNSHINE were taken across behind runners shortly after the start.

For some distance approaching and passing the 1200 Metres, CAPTAIN AMERICA raced keenly and was awkwardly placed close to the heels of REAL GENERAL.

In the early stages, PLAIN RED BANNER raced wide and without cover and after the 1000 Metres was allowed to stride into a forward position outside the leader TAI PO FORTUNE.

Approaching the 900 Metres, LIFE OF BEAUTY got its head up and was checked away from the heels of CAPTAIN AMERICA after commencing to prove very difficult to settle.

After the 200 Metres, PLEASURE GAINS got its head on the side and shifted out under pressure.

The performance of TAI PO FORTUNE, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable.

Before being allowed to race again, TAI PO FORTUNE will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

A veterinary inspection of SHANTARAAM immediately following the race found that horse to have cast its left front plate, to be lame in the right front leg and to have a bleeding quarter crack to the right front foot.

Before being allowed to race again, SHANTARAAM will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

A veterinary inspection of PLAIN RED BANNER immediately following the race revealed the horse to have bled from both nostrils.

PLEASURE GAINS and KHAYA were sent for sampling.
