Recap by phillip woo

The Fast Lane rated closer in the run than normal in fourth and one off the rails with the blinkers re-applied, swept to the front five deep at the 150m and kept up a strong gallop for a return to the winner's circle in his first attempt over the 2,200m. Victory Mascot settled behind midfield and on the rails, was back to fourth from last 600m out, swung the final bend with one wider out and let down nicely to nail Hei Hei Posh for second in the final bob of heads. Hei Hei Posh found a spot one off in midfield from a wide gate, turned the final bend with three wider out and kept on reasonably well. Glory Of India rounded the final bend with two wider out and made a steady run late without menacing. Win Along enjoyed a nice run in midfield along the rails, stayed to the inner upon straightening and kept on all right. Secretary Of State was switched off third from the rear, made his attack widest out upon straightening and stayed on passed beaten rivals. Dragon Pins was ridden handily in fifth and on the rails, pulled out four deep upon straightening and was plodding 200m out with the sharp step up in distance. Favourite Magnumous prompted the pace of Golden Osmanthus in second and one off the rails, assumed the front 250m out and was stopping 100m out.

Racing Incident Report

Race Five: (727)-ON LAN HANDICAP - Class 4 - 2200Metres

As Jockey T Berry was unable to fulfil the engagement on BURGUNDY MAC due to being overweight, he was fined a sum of $5,000.

As such, permission was given for C K Tong to be substituted as the rider of that horse.

Shortly after the start, KENSWORTH KID was steadied when crowded for room between THE FAST LANE and GLORY OF INDIA which shifted in.

From a wide barrier, BURGUNDY MAC was taken across behind runners shortly after the start.

Making the first turn approaching the 2000 Metres, WIN ALONG was steadied away from the heels of DRAGON PINS.

Making the turn after the 600 Metres, VICTORY MASCOT was awkwardly placed close to the heels of WIN ALONG.

When questioned, A Suborics stated that in the early part of the Straight MAGNUMOUS showed a good turn of foot and he felt that the horse was going to finish off the race strongly.

He said however that over the final 150 Metres MAGNUMOUS tired and was disappointing over the concluding stages in the manner in which it weakened.

A veterinary inspection of MAGNUMOUS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

A veterinary inspection of DRAGON PINS immediately following the race revealed the horse to be lame in the right front leg.

Before being allowed to race again, DRAGON PINS will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

A veterinary inspection of BURGUNDY MAC immediately following the race revealed the horse to be lame in the left front leg and both hind legs.

Before being allowed to race again, BURGUNDY MAC will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

MAGNUMOUS, THE FAST LANE and VICTORY MASCOT were sent for sampling.
