Recap by phillip woo

Winnie's Horse led along the fence until handing up to Highest Acclaim at the 800m, reclaimed the front 100m out and held off the late surge of favourite Jazzy Feeling for a bob-of-heads success. Firming favourite Jazzy Feeling settled fourth and one off the rails, rounded the final bend six deep and closed off nicely to make it a thriller on the line. He remains one to follow. Perfect Finish settled third and one off the rails when failing to gain the front from Winnie's Horse at the 1,000m, straightened three deep and just got by Highest Acclaim for third. Highest Acclaim rolled forward three-to-four deep from a wide gate to eventually clear for the front at the 800m, turned the final bend a length-and-half on top and grudgingly gave way late to just miss a placing. Good Good View settled worse than midfield and one off the rails, rallied five deep upon straightening and made some ground without menacing. Strathtay held the fence in midfield, stayed near the inside upon straightening and only held his ground. Master Sommelier was ridden at or near the rear, swung the final bend widest out and got going late when the race was all but over.

Racing Incident Report

Race Seven: (748)-CARNATION HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1200Metres

FLYING SMART was withdrawn on 3.7.13 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (inappetance) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter GOOD GOOD VIEW (T Angland).

Before being allowed to race again, FLYING SMART will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

SPLENDID VICTORY began only fairly.

STRATHTAY was crowded for room at the start between TOPSPIN EXPRESS which shifted in after bumping MASTER SOMMELIER and GOOD GOOD VIEW which was taken out by JAZZY FEELING.

Approaching the 1100 Metres, PACKING MOTOR momentarily raced in restricted room inside PERFECT FINISH.

Making the first turn near the 1000 Metres, TRUMP got its head on the side and shifted out, resulting in the horse losing ground.

Passing the 1000 Metres, GOOD GOOD VIEW was momentarily steadied away from the heels of PERFECT FINISH after being taken out slightly by JAZZY FEELING which was taken out by WINNIES HORSE.

For some distance after the 900 Metres, MASTER SOMMELIER proved very difficult to settle and got its head up on a number of occasions.

Approaching the 400 Metres, JAZZY FEELING was awkwardly placed close to the heels of PERFECT FINISH.

Throughout the race, TRUMP travelled wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground.

After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that STRATHTAY was lame in its left front leg.

Before being allowed to race again, STRATHTAY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

A veterinary inspection of MASTER SOMMELIER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings other than the horse had lost its left front plate.

WINNIES HORSE and JAZZY FEELING were sent for sampling.
