Recap by phillip woo

Cheers Joy was ridden cold from the widest gate, made his move 500m out, swung the final bend widest out and finished off willingly to snatch victory in the shadows of the post for a welcome win at his 16 th start following a stable change to the Dennis Yip Chor-hung stable and move to a hood and tongue-tie. He may be worth following up on. Fancied late, Uwillbeglorious settled midfield and one off the rails, was forced five wide by Hong Kong Dancer at the 200m and ran on nicely to place for an eighth time without winning this season. Hong Kong Dancer settled fourth and one off the rails without cover, advanced to the front four deep at the 100m and was swamped near the line. Firming favourite Invictus drove forward three deep from a middle gate to eventually lead approaching the 800m, straightened two lengths on top and was stopping 100m out after setting a good pace. Born To Win took the sit in third and near the rails after leading early on, straightened one off, shifted outside a tiring Emperor Claudius at the 200m and ran on steadily to pick up a cheque. Emperor Claudius made his run in second along the rails, came one off at the 300m and was one-paced under the whip over the final 150m.

Racing Incident Report

Race Eight: (749)-CHAMOMILE HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1650Metres

YUE LU TREASURE was withdrawn on 3.7.13 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (swollen left eye) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter HOLY MAC (M Chadwick).

Before being allowed to race again, YUE LU TREASURE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

WINNING APEX and MI SAVVY were crowded for room at the start between HOLY MAC and INVICTUS which shifted out.

After this, both WINNING APEX and MI SAVVY were taken across behind runners.

Also from wide barriers, INTELLECTUALSTRIDE and CHEERS JOY were taken across behind runners shortly after the start.

Passing the 1500 Metres, UWILLBEGLORIOUS was awkwardly placed close to the heels of SUGAR CITY which got its head on the side and shifted out.

For some distance after the 800 Metres, EMPEROR CLAUDIUS got its head on the side and hung in badly.

Then in the Straight, EMPEROR CLAUDIUS hung in under pressure and proved difficult to ride and over the concluding stages shifted in towards INDIGO WAY.

Because of this, EMPEROR CLAUDIUS was not able to be ridden all the way to the finishing line.

Passing the 500 Metres, INTELLECTUALSTRIDE was checked away from the heels of INDIGO WAY.

INTELLECTUALSTRIDE was then badly held up for clear running for some distance rounding the Home Turn.

At the entrance to the Straight, MI SAVVY was awkwardly placed outside the heels of HOLY MAC which shifted out.

Near the 300 Metres, M Chadwick (HOLY MAC) momentarily dropped his right rein.

Near the 150 Metres, BORN TO WIN was shifted out away from the heels of EMPEROR CLAUDIUS.

After the 100 Metres, CHEERS JOY got its head on the side and hung in under pressure.

Close to the finishing line, HONG KONG DANCER and UWILLBEGLORIOUS raced tight.

After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that INTELLECTUALSTRIDE was lame in the right front leg and had lost its left hind plate.

Before being allowed to race again, INTELLECTUALSTRIDE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

INVICTUS, CHEERS JOY and UWILLBEGLORIOUS were sent for sampling.
