Recap by phillip woo

Favourite Super Goal Elite settled on the back of the leader Great Alexander, swept to the front 250m out and edged clear in driving rain for a nice win at his 13th start. Red Courage settled fifth along the rails, cornered in four deep and stayed on nicely to come out a clear second. He's finally come right in his past two runs and will likely get away with a race at this level next season. Joy Together was posted deep on the speed in third, rallied with three wider out, ducked in under pressure while looking a winning chance at the 200m and came up one-paced over the final 100m. Firming late in betting, Ambitious Glory settled fourth and one off the fence, swung the final bend six deep and kept on all right in his turf debut. Jade Pippio settled behind midfield and on the rails fourth from the rear, straightened three deep and made some ground late without menacing. Red Lucky Star settled without cover in midfield, swung the final bend with two wider out and made some ground without threatening. Plunged late, China Angel made his run third from the rear and one off the rails, pushed into the clear with one wider out and made some ground late passed beaten rivals.

Racing Incident Report

Race Five: (765)-HONOUR HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1000Metres

GOLDEN BAUHINIA was withdrawn on 9.7.13 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (inappetence) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter JOY TOGETHER (J Moreira).

Before being allowed to race again, GOLDEN BAUHINIA will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

As the start was effected, OCEAN ROAR, which had been fractious in the barriers, began very awkwardly and lost a considerable amount of ground.

OCEAN ROAR was consequently taken across behind runners in the early stages and then, despite being ridden along throughout the race, failed to show speed.

The performance of OCEAN ROAR was considered unacceptable.

Before being allowed to race again, OCEAN ROAR will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial.

Approaching the 700 Metres, D DAY SUPER got its head up on a number of occasions and proved very difficult to settle when awkwardly placed close to the heels of RED COURAGE.

Making the turn after the 500 Metres, JOY TOGETHER got its head on the side and hung out.

For the majority of the race, RED LUCKY STAR travelled wide and without cover.

After the race, Z Purton stated that after having to be ridden along in the early stages to take up a forward position as instructed, GREAT ALEXANDER came off the bridle prior to the Home Turn and in the Straight gave ground noticeably.

He said he was not able to offer any explanation for the horses disappointing performance.

A veterinary inspection of GREAT ALEXANDER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

A veterinary inspection of D DAY SUPER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

SUPER GOAL ELITE and RED COURAGE were sent for sampling.
