Recap by phillip woo

Beauty Sparkle jumped alertly to dictate the running from gate nine three off the stands side, was headed 250m out by London China Town, but fought back doggedly to reclaim the lead 100m out for a third straight success, despite a step up in class. London China Town settled fourth in the run and two off the outside rails, worked to the front 250m out and couldn't match the winner over the final 100m. Victorius settled behind midfield and two off the grandstand side, before closing the gap on the top pair with each stride over the final 200m. He'll come on for this run and needs to be kept safe over 1,200m. Rumba King travelled fifth in the run in the centre of the course and stayed on well to inject value into the First-4. Slick Bullet made his run second from the rear and closest the stands side after a sluggish start, shifted underneath rival for clear running at the 400m and ran on steadily without menacing. Little Cow was never a threat after travelling third from the rear and in the centre of the course. Nordic One settled behind the leaders in third and was giving way over the final 150m. Talley Close was niggled along to hold a position behind midfield outside Victorius, was under pressure mid-straight and never a factor with money pouring in late.

Racing Incident Report

Race Seven: (007)-ALBERT HANDICAP - Class 2 - 1000Metres

Near the 800 Metres, VICTORIUS was steadied away from the heels of LONDON CHINA TOWN which shifted out.

After the 400 Metres, BEAUTY SPARKLE (M Chadwick) got its head on the side and hung in and approaching the 200 Metres M Chadwick dropped his right rein.

When questioned, M L Yeung stated that after being fractious in the barriers, SLICK BULLET was then slow to begin.

He said he then shifted his mount to the outside rail in the early stages.

He said he had intended continuing to improve along the outside rail, however, near the 500 Metres he was obliged to direct his mount inwards away from the heels of TALLEY CLOSE which was taken in by HEAVENISARACEHORSE.

He said when he did this, he immediately commenced to slap his mount down the shoulder with the whip, however, approaching the 300 Metres LITTLE COW shifted out across the running of SLICK BULLET which resulted in him having to momentarily stop riding and come to the inside of that horse.

He added he then had considerable difficulty obtaining clear running and for this reason he was not able to use the whip on the horse until the concluding stages at which time he was able to shift SLICK BULLET to the outside of NORDIC ONE.

He said although SLICK BULLET was not able to obtain unimpeded running until the concluding stages, nonetheless the horse finished off the race very well.

After the race, C K Tong stated that DANE PATROL travelled fairly during the early and middle stages, however, its condition gave out noticeably over the concluding stages and in his opinion, would be improved by todays race.

A veterinary inspection of DANE PATROL immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

A veterinary inspection of LITTLE COW immediately following the race showed the horse to be a roarer which had previously been reported.

BEAUTY SPARKLE and LONDON CHINA TOWN were sent for sampling.
