Recap by phillip woo

Mi Savvy settled fourth and one off the rails, swung the final bend five deep, wore down Hawthorne 50m out for the front and held off the late surge of hot favourite Golden Harvest for the victory. Golden Harvest was keen in the run third from the rear and three deep with cover, swung the final bend widest and finished up willingly to make it interesting at the finish. He`ll come on for this run and will be hard to beat next time out. Hawthorne was posted deep without cover outside the early leader Sunshine Kid and then one-off behind Tomodachi at the 1,000m, hit the front three deep at the 150m and held on gamely for a placing. It was a big effort first-up over the 1,200m for his new trainer Benno Yung. St Yazin settled behind midfield and one off the rails, shifted into the clear with three wider out soon after straightening and ran on well without getting to the placegetters. Royal Partner swung the final bend five-to-six deep and ran on all right without menacing. Tomodachi led at the 1,000m from Sunshine Kid, cornered level for the front and was coming back to the field over the final 150m. Plunged late, Disciples Twelve travelled fourth from the rear and along the rails and was making some ground late without ever looking a factor.
