Recap by phillip woo

Expedite settled fourth from the rear in the early stages, moved to midfield and three deep at the 600m, swung the final bend with one wider out and finished off nicely to take control 100m out for the win after a luckless run in September. He was suited by the pace. Star Of Wai Bo was caught nearly six deep in a mad rush for the front early on, eased back to settle ahead of midfield and three deep at the 800m, worked to fourth entering the straight, hit the front 200m out and kept on gamely when headed to just hold second. He's run well on both surfaces in his two outings this term and does have another win in him. Favourite Dehere's The Love made his run at the back following a slow break, swung the final bend widest out and was finishing full of run to make it tight for second in a pleasing first run on the dirt. Plunged late, Viva Dolphin failed to muster under hard riding second from the rear and two off the rails, peeled into the clear with two wider out at the 200m and finished well for a non-threatening fourth. Crimson Heart tracked the good pace of O'Halo in third and one off the rails, advanced to the front at the 250m and was giving way 100m out. Hurry Hurry Up straightened four deep, dived to the rails at the 250m and ran on steadily without ever looking a threat.

Racing Incident Report

Race Three: (085)-MEI TUNG HANDICAP (Sec1) - Class 4 - 1200Metres

DEHERES THE LOVE began only fairly and then was crowded for room between QUANTUM POWER which initially shifted out and SUNSHINE KID which shifted in.

VIVA DOLPHIN was also tardy to begin.

In the early part of the Straight, OHALO got its head on the side and shifted out under pressure.

Throughout the race, WHAT A HEART travelled wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground.

The performance of NAZAKATS LAD, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable.

Before being allowed to race again, NAZAKATS LAD will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of SUNSHINE KID, O Doleuze stated that SUNSHINE KID normally begins very well in its races.

He said tonight SUNSHINE KID began only fairly and then despite being ridden along in the early stages did not show early speed.

He said he was obliged to continually ride SUNSHINE KID along throughout the race in an endeavour to have it maintain its position, however, SUNSHINE KID did not travel well at any stage of the race and was always under pressure.

He added in the Straight SUNSHINE KID was particularly disappointing in the manner in which it gave ground rapidly to finish tailed off.

O Doleuze stated that the only explanation he could offer for the horses disappointing performance is that, in his opinion, it is able to travel more comfortably when positioned outside of runners rather than when obliged to race amongst horses as was the case this evening.

Trainer C W Chang stated that he had not experienced any setbacks with SUNSHINE KIDs preparation leading into tonights race.

He said he was not able to offer any explanation for the horses performance other that he shared Jockey Doleuzes view that SUNSHINE KID is better suited when able to race outside of horses.

A veterinary inspection of SUNSHINE KID immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

The performance of SUNSHINE KID was considered unacceptable.

Before being allowed to race again, SUNSHINE KID will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

After the race, Apprentice K C Ng stated that HINYUEN PALADINs action in the early stages did not feel comfortable.

A veterinary inspection of HINYUEN PALADIN immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

The performance of HINYUEN PALADIN, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable.

Before being allowed to race again, HINYUEN PALADIN will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

DEHERES THE LOVE, EXPEDITE and STAR OF WAI BO were sent for sampling.
