Recap by phillip woo

Fancied late to jump favourite, Sterling City eventually slotted in with cover in midfield at the 800m, rounded the final bend five deep, swept to a narrow lead at the 150m from Bullish Champion and just brushed that one aside to raise in his game to another level with a Group Two success. Bullish Champion settled one off in second, assumed the front 350m out and went down fighting. Charles The Great settled behind midfield and one off the rails, swung the final bend with two wider out and finished up nicely for a placing. Early favourite Frederick Engels made his run third from the rear and one off the rails, swung the final bend widest out and ran on reasonably well under a big weight. He'll be a force to be reckoned with off a set weight. California Bounty ensured the pace was good on the engine, cornered nearly a length on top and outclassed inside the final 150m with a step up in grade and distance. Best Eleven enjoyed a nice run along the rails, straightened three deep and wasn't good enough when push came to shove. Solar Great switched off at the rear from a wide gate, still had a tonne of work ahead of him after straightening with one wider out and made some headway late without menacing.

Racing Incident Report

Race Seven: (115)-THE PREMIER BOWL (HANDICAP) - Hong Kong Group Two - 1200Metres

On arrival at the Start, it was noted that LEADING CITY had lost its right front plate.

This plate was refitted.

LEADING CITY was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race.

STRAIGHT GOLD lost its left front plate shortly after the start.

From wide barriers, SOLAR GREAT, STRAIGHT GOLD and EL ZONDA were all taken across behind runners shortly after the start.

Rounding the Home Turn, CALIFORNIA BOUNTY got its head on the aide and hung out.

Approaching the 300 Metres, CAPTAIN SWEET was steadied when disappointed for running between LEADING CITY and BEST ELEVEN (M L Yeung) which shifted out.

M L Yeung was reprimanded and advised to exercise more care.

Near the 300 Metres, LEADING CITY became unbalanced after being bumped by RICH TAPESTRY.

A short distance later, LEADING CITY got its head on the side and shifted in towards the heels of BEST ELEVEN which shifted out.

This resulted in LEADING CITY, which was commencing to give ground, being steadied away from the heels of BEST ELEVEN.

Near the 250 Metres, RICH TAPESTRY, which was commencing to give ground, was momentarily steadied away from the heels of STERLING CITY (J Moreira) which shifted in.
