Recap by phillip woo

Diamond Angel remains unbeaten in two outings following a move to pacifiers. He took the sit in third and one off the rails after rolling forward from an awkward gate, rushed to the front four deep at the 200m and then drew clear. Punted late, Mega settled second from the rear and one off the rails, angled out of a jam into the clear with three wider out at the 200m and finished up nicely thereafter to take second in the final 20m in his initial run on dirt. Late-fancied favourite Splendid Guy was ridden patiently at the rear and two off the rails from a wide gate, swung the final bend widest out and finished up willingly to collar Diamond Knight in the shadows of the post for third. Diamond Knight settled worse than midfield and one off the rails, rallied four deep upon straightening and was swamped late after working to second at the 100m. Daily Double was posted without cover behind midfield, rounded the final bend six deep and ranged up a place chance until condition gave way 100m out. Specked late, Bear Supreme settled third from the rear and one off the rails, swung the final bend with two wider out and stayed on all right without menacing. Firming late, Take The Rap travelled fourth and one off the rails but compounded 150m out.

Racing Incident Report

Race One: (119)-SWAN HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1200Metres

DIAMOND KNIGHT began awkwardly and shortly after the start was crowded for room between TAKE THE RAP and ALL TIMES LUCKY which shifted out.

MEGA began awkwardly and shifted out, resulting in BEAR SUPREME being taken out onto the hindquarters of DIAMOND ANGEL which became unbalanced.

As the start was effected, POSITIVE ENERGY lifted its front feet off the ground.

MEGA had difficulty obtaining clear running rounding the Home Turn and in the Straight until passing the 250 Metres.

Passing the 200 Metres, WINSOME was steadied when disappointed for clear running between ALL TIMES LUCKY and GREAT ALEXANDER, both of which shifted marginally when giving ground.

WINSOME was then unable to obtain clear running until inside the 100 Metres.

In the Straight, DIAMOND ANGEL lay out under pressure.

When questioned, K Teetan stated that, from barrier 10, he had been asked to ride SPLENDID GUY quietly and obtain a position with cover towards the rear of the field.

He said he was further instructed to position SPLENDID GUY outside of runners so as to enable the horse to immediately shift out rounding the Home Turn into clear running.

He said that he had viewed a number of the horse's race videos and had formed the view that when ridden for speed from wide barriers, the horse had not closed off its races.

He said when ridden from behind tonight, the horse closed off the race strongly.

After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that PURE VICTORY had bled from both nostrils.

After the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on SPLENDID GUY at the request of Trainer A T Millard.

The Veterinary Surgeon reported that this examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea.

Before being allowed to race again, SPLENDID GUY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

A veterinary inspection of POSITIVE ENERGY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

A veterinary inspection of WINSOME immediately following the race did not show any significant findings, however, the horse was unable to be scoped due to being fractious.

SPLENDID GUY, DIAMOND ANGEL and MEGA were sent for sampling.
