Recap by phillip woo

Teofilo Calva rolled to lead entering the first bend from a wide gate with blinkers applied, came to the final corner a length on top, doubled his margin mid-straight and won well in his first run of the campaign. Fantastic Kaka settled effectively one-out, one-back, shifted out four deep at the 400m and ran on nicely to take second 250m out. Lucky Bonus enjoyed the box-seat run along the rails, briefly went to second one off at the 300m and kept plugging away to hold third. Favourite Why Why settled three back and one off the rails, rounded the final bend five deep and ran on steadily without ever looking to land a placing with a step up in distance. Real Fit travelled outside Why Why, forced two off the rails coming to the final bend, swung the last corner with three wider out and kept on one-paced in the straight drive with a step up in distance.

Racing Incident Report

Race Three: (166)-LION ROCK HANDICAP - Class 4 (Restricted) - 1200Metres

As the start was effected, VALIANT TROJAN became fractious, put its head down and consequently lost ground.

VALIANT TROJAN then finished tailed out.

The performance of VALIANT TROJAN was considered unacceptable.

Before being allowed to race again, VALIANT TROJAN will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

TOP ACT was slow to begin and shortly after the start was steadied away from the heels of IT CAN ONLY BE YOU which, after beginning awkwardly, was taken out by FASTER MORE which shifted out abruptly despite the efforts of its rider.

About 50 Metres after the start, G Mosse's (FANTASTIC KAKA) left foot slipped from the stirrup iron, resulting in him almost being dislodged.

After taking some time to regain his balance, G Mosse was then able to regain the use of his iron passing the 1000 Metres.

When being steadied to obtain a position with cover near the 1100 Metres, BERLINI got it head up on a number of occasions and proved difficult to settle.

Making the first turn after the 900 Metres, EXCEL ONESELF got its head on the side and shifted out.

REAL FIT, which was following, was hampered in consequence and shifted out, resulting in FASTER MORE being taken wider.

At the same point, MALAYAN GEM got its head on the side and hung out, resulting in HAPPILY TIME being taken wider.

MALAYAN GEM continued to hang out for some distance after this.

For some distance after the 800 Metres, BERLINI proved very difficult to settle and was checked away from the heels of REAL FIT.

BERLINI continued to over-race and after the 700 Metres was checked away from the heels of WHY WHY.

MALAYAN GEM, which was following BERLINI, when continuing to hang out, struck the heels of BERLINI in consequence and blundered.

TOP ACT, which was following MALAYAN GEM, shifted out away from the heels of that horse, resulting in IT CAN ONLY BE YOU being hampered.

REAL FIT lost its left hind plate near the 700 Metres.

Passing the 700 Metres, REAL FIT was bumped by WHY WHY.

REAL FIT then shifted out, resulting in FASTER MORE shifting out abruptly when being checked away from the heels of REAL FIT.

HAPPILY TIME, which was following and racing greenly, shifted out abruptly away from the heels of FASTER MORE, resulting in VALIANT TROJAN being checked and taken very wide.

Near the 600 Metres, TOP ACT was awkwardly placed close to the heels of HAPPILY TIME which was shifting in.

Approaching the 600 Metres, WHY WHY and REAL FIT raced tight.

Neat the 250 Metres, GRAND HARBOUR momentarily raced tight inside EXCEL ONESELF which got its head on the side and shifted in when giving ground.

Near the 150 Metres, TOP ACT lost its left front plate.

The performance of IT CAN ONLY BE YOU, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable.

Before being allowed to race again, IT CAN ONLY BE YOU will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

T Angland, the rider of GRAND HARBOUR, was reminded of his obligation to ride his mounts out at least hands and heels to the end of the race where circumstances permit.

A veterinary inspection of REAL FIT immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

WHY WHY, TEOFILO CALVA and FANTASTIC KAKA were sent for sampling.
