Recap by phillip woo

Well-fancied Hei Hei Posh was patiently ridden behind midfield and on the rails, was back to third last at the 800m, pinched ground along the rails coming to the final bend, rallied four deep upon straightening and out-dashed Super Strike to score a narrow victory with a step up over a suitable 2,200m. Super Strike switched off at the rear from gate 10, made some ground coming to the final bend, cornered widest out and finished willingly to make it a thriller on the line over his preferred marathon trip. Firming favourite Activism made his run second from the rear and one off the rails, stayed to the rails upon straightening, switched into the clear three deep at the 150m and ran on nicely to grab a placing 30m out. Win Along travelled midfield and one off the rails, rolled forward at the 800m to lead 600m out, came to the final bend nearly two lengths clear and grudgingly gave way inside the final 100m. Mobile King was allowed to find his feet fourth from the rear and one off the rails, took off at the 800m to get to second and one off 500m out, straightened four deep and came up one-paced over the final 150m in his initial run over 2,200m. Dragon Batchelor rounded the final bend with one wider out and made some ground late without menacing.

Racing Incident Report

Race Five: (197)-KYOTO HANDICAP - Class 4 - 2200Metres

MOBILE KING began very awkwardly and lost ground at the start.

From the outside barrier, DRAGON BACHELOR was taken across behind runners shortly after the start.

Near the 2000 Metres, ACTIVISM momentarily raced tight inside WIN ALONG which was racing tight inside ROYAL KNIGHT.

Near the 1800 Metres, WIN ALONG was awkwardly placed close to the heels of MAGNUMOUS.

Passing the 700 Metres, KHARU commenced to give ground abruptly and weakened back through the field.

Near the 500 Metres, ACTIVISM was shifted in away from the heels of KHARU which was continuing to give ground.

ACTIVISM was awkwardly placed close to the heels of HEI HEI POSH rounding the Home Turn and then in the early part of the Straight raced tight inside VERY WELL which got its head on the side and shifted in when giving ground.

The performances of MAGNUMOUS, VERY WELL and KHARU, all of which finished tailed out, were considered unacceptable.

Before being allowed to race again, MAGNUMOUS, VERY WELL and KHARU will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

For the majority of the race, ROYAL KNIGHT travelled wide and without cover.

After the race, W C Marwing (ROYAL KNIGHT) reported that his saddle shifted back near the 800 Metres.

A veterinary inspection of VERY WELL immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

A veterinary inspection of KHARU immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucus in the horse's trachea.

ACTIVISM, HEI HEI POSH and SUPER STRIKE were sent for sampling.
