Recap by phillip woo

Super Team was ridden with patience second from the rear and one off the rails, swung the final bend with one wider out and let down willingly to get up in the final stride for the victory. All Times Lucky enjoyed a soft run fourth along the rails, rolled to the front four deep at the 150m and found one a whisker better in a career best run with a step up to the mile. Marvel Plus settled fifth and one off the rails, cornered six deep upon straightening and ran on steadily to grab third at a price in the final 20m. Favourite Viva Guy settled behind midfield and one off the rails, rounded the final bend three-to-four deep and ran on all right to snatch a First-4 spot on the wire. Plunged late, Cosmo One easily got to the front from a wide gate, handed up to Casa Junior at the 850m, reclaimed the front rounding the final bend and was grudgingly giving way in the final 100m. Jun Hao saved ground along the rails in midfield, cornered three deep, went back to the fence at the 150m and kept on one-paced thereafter, despite a drop in grade and step up in distance. Ambitious Treasure drove forward without cover to attack the leader one off at the 1,100m, went a length clear at the 800m and was stopping 200m out.

Racing Incident Report

Race One: (231)-D'AGUILAR PEAK HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1650Metres

After being loaded, MEGA CASTLE became fractious and got its head down on a number of occasions.

MEGA CASTLE was removed from the barriers and examined by the Veterinary Officer who reported that there was blood present at both nostrils and accordingly was not suitable to race.

Acting on this advice, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of MEGA CASTLE.

After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that an endoscopic examination of MEGA CASTLE found that there was no blood in the trachea and that the blood at the nostrils was as a result of trauma.

Accordingly, MEGA CASTLE was not deemed to have bled.

PRONOUNCED HONOUR and CASA JUNIOR (W M Lai) were slow to begin.

After this, CASA JUNIOR was ridden along to obtain a forward position.

After the race, W M Lai stated that, in his opinion, the fact that the horse had to be used up in the early stages of the race after being slow to begin was the principal reason for its disappointing performance.

A veterinary inspection of CASA JUNIOR immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Near the 400 Metres, PRONOUNCED HONOUR was awkwardly placed close to the heels of VIVA GUY.

Near the 50 Metres, VIVA GUY was shifted to the inside of ALL TIMES LUCKY to continue improving.

In the Straight, JUN HAO got its head on the side and lay out under pressure.

For the majority of the race, AMBITIOUS TREASURE travelled wide and without cover.

After the race, K C Leung reported that, in his opinion, EASY GOLD did not feel comfortable in its action.

A veterinary inspection of EASY GOLD immediately following the race revealed the horse to be lame in its right front leg.

Before being allowed to race again, EASY GOLD will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

VIVA GUY, SUPER TEAM and ALL TIMES LUCKY were sent for sampling.
