Recap by phillip woo

Long-priced Berlini was taken back from the widest gate, still had all ahead of him rounding the final bend five deep and easily rounded them up at the 200m, despite a ducking-and-weaving run, for a convincing win. Oscar Miracle rolled forward from a wide gate to lead one off, was back to third at the 600m, reclaimed the front 300m out from Hurry Hurry Up and kept finding, despite drifting out under pressure to hold second to cap a bumper Quinella result. Industrialist Way was ridden third from the rear and one off the rails following a slow break, peeled into the clear with three wide upon straightening and out-dashed Silver Dragon for third. Silver Dragon settled fourth from the rear and two off the rails, swung the final bend widest out and was getting going late to make it close for a placing. Royal Elegance settled midfield along the rails, shifted off the rails three deep for a clear run at the 250m and kept plugging away without menacing after having to steady off the heels of the hanging Oscar Miracle 150m out.

Racing Incident Report

Race Six: (320)-PING SHAN HANDICAP (Sec1) - Class 4 - 1400Metres

INDUSTRIALIST WAY began only fairly and then was crowded for room at the start between ROYALE ELEGANCE and SILVER DRAGON, both of which shifted ground.

LUCKY BONUS began awkwardly.

From the outside barrier, BERLINI was taken across behind runners shortly after the start.

Both SUPER CAGA and HEART WOOD failed to muster speed in the early stages.

For some distance in the early stages, GREAT RUN, when being steadied to obtain cover, proved very difficult to settle and got its head up on a number of occasions.

GREAT RUN continued to over-race for some distance after this.

Approaching and passing the 1000 Metres, LUCKY BONUS, which was travelling keenly and proving difficult to settle, was awkwardly placed inside the heels of HURRY HURRY UP which shifted in.

Near the 950 Metres, DRAGON lost ground after shifting in towards the running rail and becoming very unbalanced in its action.

Approaching the 800 Metres, GREAT RUN was awkwardly placed close to the heels of ADDOLE.

Rounding the Home Turn, HEART WOOD raced in restricted room between YOU AND M and INDUSTRIALIST WAY which shifted out to obtain clear running.

BERLINI had difficulty obtaining clear running until near the 300 Metres.

Near the 300 Metres, ROYALE ELEGANCE and LUCKY BONUS bumped.

Then near the 250 Metres, LUCKY BONUS was bumped and taken wider by ROYALE ELEGANCE which, after commencing to shift to the outside of OSCAR MIRACLE, was obliged to shift out further when that horse also shifted ground.

Passing the 200 Metres, after initially being taken out by ROYALE ELEGANCE, LUCKY BONUS then shifted out away from that horse, resulting in GREAT RUN being checked when crowded for room inside INDUSTRIALIST WAY.

Approaching the 150 Metres, ROYALE ELEGANCE and LUCKY BONUS again raced tight.

Then passing the 150 Metres, ROYALE ELEGANCE was steadied away from the heels of OSCAR MIRACLE (C K Tong) which shifted out under pressure.

C K Tong was reprimanded.

J Moreira (YOU AND M) reported that his mount got its head on the side and hung out from the 600 Metres.

For the majority of the race, ADDOLE travelled wide and without cover.

After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that an endoscopic examination of SUPER CAGA showed a substantial amount of mucopus in the horse's trachea.

When questioned, M Demuro stated that LUCKY BONUS proved very difficult to settle in the early and middle stages and would not relax for him.

He said because of this the horse was then not able to quicken as expected in the Straight and finished off the race only one-paced.

A veterinary inspection of LUCKY BONUS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings, however, it was unable to be scoped due to being fractious.

A veterinary inspection of ADDOLE immediately following the race revealed that the horse was displaying an irregular heart rhythm.

Before being allowed to race again, ADDOLE will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

A veterinary inspection of DRAGON and HEART WOOD immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

ADDOLE, BERLINI and OSCAR MIRACLE were sent for sampling.
