Recap by phillip woo

Drifting in the betting, Smart Forward settled fifth and one off the rails, rallied four deep upon straightening, hit the front 200m out and kept on gamely for the win following two positive performances. Co-favourite Access Years settled fourth along the rails, was held in a pocket by the winner upon straightening, regrouped while pulling out at the 300m and finished up nicely for second. He's come up unlucky in his past two starts and remains one to follow. Crunched late in betting to start equal favourite, Domineer took the sit outside the leading group until deciding to go forward and lead at the 700m, cornered a length on top and grudgingly gave way late. Sparkling B settled midfield along the rails, rounded the final bend five deep and ran on steadily to just miss a placing. Holyangelholy settled second from the rear from the widest gate, came three off upon straightening and was clawing back the margin under the left whip. Jolly Spring made his run one off in second, cornered two deep and gradually dropped away over the final 200m.

Racing Incident Report

Race Four: (336)-FELLOWSHIP HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1200Metres

SKY MASCOT, which was leaning on the inside of its gate, was slow to begin.

From wide barriers, BRILLIANT SHINE and HOLYANGELHOLY were taken across behind runners shortly after the start.

Making the first turn after the 900 Metres, BRILLIANT SHINE got its head up when proving difficult to settle.

After the 800 Metres, BEAUTY JOURNEY was left racing wide and without cover.

After the 600 Metres, CREATIVE WINNER lost ground when reluctant to maintain its position between BEAUTY JOURNEY and SKY MASCOT.

BRILLIANT SHINE, which was following, was steadied away from the heels of CREATIVE WINNER in consequence.

At the 400 Metres, ACCESS YEARS was severely checked when attempting to improve between JOLLY SPRING and SMART FORWARD where there was insufficient room.

ACCESS YEARS was then held up for clear running until after the 300 Metres.

When ACCESS YEARS shifted to the outside of SMART FORWARD after the 300 Metres, it bumped with SPARKLING B.

When questioned, K C Leung stated that, from barrier 5, he had been instructed to have JOLLY SPRING racing where it was comfortable and it was felt that the horse would be able to obtain a position in midfield.

He said JOLLY SPRING began well and he was able to cross runners to his inside with ease and shift in to race in a position just behind the leaders.

He said whilst JOLLY SPRING ended up racing slightly more forward than had been intended, the horse travelled comfortably.

DOMINEER, SMART FORWARD and ACCESS YEARS were sent for sampling.
