Recap by phillip woo

Speedygonzalez settled midfield and one off the rails, swung the final bend with one wider out and finished nicely to gun down Jade Pippo near the wire for an overdue win with a drop back in distance, return to blinkers and a riding change. Jade Pippo rolled forward to lead near the inside from a wide gate, cornered three deep and a length on top and grudgingly gave way late in a pleasing effort with a move to cheek pieces. Early favourite Happy Champion sat second in the run without cover, cornered four deep and plugged on a non-threatening third with every chance. Happy Homing made his run one-out, one-back, peeled into the clear with two wider out at the 200m and ran on steadily without menacing. Late-fancied favourite Peaceful Mission landed three back along the rails, cornered three deep and only held his ground when asked for a response. Well-punted late, Mr Award enjoyed the box-seat run, stayed to the inside upon straightening and was one-paced over the final 150m. Demon Demon made his run second from the rear from a wide gate and made some progress late without ever looking a chance. Golden Gunners travelled at the rear following a sluggish break and kept on passed beaten rivals.

Racing Incident Report

Race Two: (392)-MORRISON HILL HANDICAP - Class 4 (Special Conditions) - 1200Metres

TIME WINNER was withdrawn on 11.2.14 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (inappetence) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter HAPPY HOMING (O Doleuze).

Before being allowed to race again, TIME WINNER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

GOLDEN GUNNERS was slow to begin.

HAPPY HOMING blundered at the start.

From wide barriers, DEMON DEMON and LYRIC ACE were taken across behind runners shortly after the start.

Shortly after the start, SPEEDYGONZALEZ and PLAIN BLUE BANNER made heavy contact due to both horses shifting ground.

Making the first turn approaching the 1000 Metres, PEACEFUL MISSION and HAPPY HOMING raced tight inside HAPPY CHAMPION which was steadied away from the heels of JADE PIPPO (K Teetan) which shifted in when not quite clear.

K Teetan was advised to ensure that he is sufficiently clear when shifting ground in similar circumstances.

After the 1000 Metres, LYRIC ACE got its head up when being checked away from the heels of PLAIN BLUE BANNER.

After the 800 Metres, PLAIN BLUE BANNER was left racing wide and without cover.

In the early part of the Straight, GOLDEN GUNNERS got its head on the side and lay in under pressure, resulting in its rider changing his whip into his right hand.

A Suborics (KICK SERVE) dropped his whip at the 300 Metres.

A veterinary inspection of KICK SERVE immediately following the race revealed that the horse was displaying an irregular heart rhythm and an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucopus in its trachea.

Before being allowed to race again, KICK SERVE will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
