Recap by phillip woo

Rainbow Fighter settled midfield along the rails, advanced to the front three deep at the 150m and kept on gamely, despite hanging out under pressure, to notch a fourth victory and claim the Million Challenge. My Name Is Bond made his run second from rear, straightened three deep and finished strongly before peaking on his move 50m out. Atacx travelled one off in midfield, swung the final bend with two wider out and ran on steadily to figure in the trio with money coming for him late. All Win Boy travelled one-out, one-back, straightened four deep and kept plugging away without menacing the placegetters. Favourite Sichuan Vigour sat on the back of the leader Charity Joy, only gained a clear run when switching out at the 150m and ran on steadily thereafter. He had excuses. Multivictory couldn't muster at the rear following a slow break and made some ground late without menacing. Charity Joy jumped well to lead from gate five, cornered nearly a length on top from Meridian Treasure and was stopping when headed 150m out. He's a 1,000m specialist for the time being.

Racing Incident Report

Race Eight: (452)-BETTERMENT HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1200Metres

Just prior to the start being effected, MULTIVICTORY put its head down and consequently was slow to begin and then, despite being vigorously ridden along in the early and middle stages, became somewhat detached from the field.

Before being allowed to race again, MULTIVICTORY will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test.

From wide barriers, MI SAVVY, MY NAME IS BOND and ST YAZIN were taken across behind runners shortly after the start.

Approaching the 1100 Metres, SUPER PLUS was steadied when crowded for room between MERIDIAN TREASURE which shifted in marginally and CHEETAH BOY which was taken out by ATACX which shifted ground after becoming unbalanced due to contact with CHARITY JOY shortly after the start.

Near the 500 Metres, SUPER PLUS was awkwardly placed close to the heels of ATACX.

SICHUAN VIGOUR was badly held up for clear running in the early part of the Straight and passing the 200 Metres was checked when disappointed for running between CHARITY JOY and MERIDIAN TREASURE, both of which had come under pressure.

Passing the 200 Metres, MI SAVVY turned its head to the right and attempted to savage MY NAME IS BOND.

As MI SAVVY had not previously been reported to have attempted to savage another runner in a race, this matter will be brought to the attention of Trainer R Gibson and a warning placed upon the horse for its future starts.

After the 200 Metres, MERIDIAN TREASURE lost its right hind plate.

For some distance after the 150 Metres, MI SAVVY was held up when awkwardly placed inside and behind the heels of ALL WIN BOY.

For the majority of the race, CHEETAH BOY travelled wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground.

After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that MERIDIAN TREASURE had sustained a minor wound to the right hind leg.

A veterinary inspection of MULTIVICTORY and CHARITY JOY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
