Recap by phillip woo

Punted late Activism settled behind midfield along the rails from an outside alley, stayed to the inside upon straightening, switched outside Ocean Power three deep at the 250m and ran on willingly to get up 30m out for the win. Thumped late in betting to jump favourite, Ocean Power settled fourth along the rails, moved to second behind Superking Dragon along the fence at the 300m, was wayward while popping one off at the 250m and ran down Superking Dragon close to home. Superking Dragon eventually rolled to the front, cornered a length on top, increased the margin to two lengths at the 200m and was swamped close to home. Early favourite China Delight settled second from the rear and one off the rails, swung the final bend with two wider out and was getting going late without menacing the placegetters. Eagle Spirit travelled three back along the paint, came one off approaching the final bend, straightened four deep and was one-paced over the final 200m with every chance. Jolly Good Star made some ground late without menacing.

Racing Incident Report

Race Five: (458)-BUKIT TIMAH HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1800Metres

EAGLE SPIRIT began awkwardly and was slow to begin.

COOL PAL began only fairly, shifted in at the start and was awkwardly placed outside the hindquarters of WINNAM.

From wide barriers, ACTIVISM and FLYING IBIS were taken across behind runners in the early stages.

After the 800 Metres, HEAR THE ROAR was taken wider when WINNAM shifted out after being awkwardly placed close to the heels of COOL PAL.

Rounding the Home Turn and in the Straight, FLYING IBIS hung in under pressure.

ACTIVISM had some difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the Straight and passing the 300 Metres was shifted to the outside of OCEAN POWER to improve.

At the 200 Metres, HEAR THE ROAR was checked away from the heels of WINNAM which was giving ground.

Throughout the race, TELEPHATIA travelled wide and without cover and in the Straight finished tailed out.

The performance of TELEPHATIA was considered unacceptable.

Before being allowed to race again, TELEPHATIA will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

When questioned, M L Yeung stated that he had been asked to ride CHINA DELIGHT quietly which is consistent with the manner in which he has been asked to ride the horse previously.

He said whilst the horse had been able to obtain a forward position in one of its starts this season, it had drawn an inside barrier on that occasion.

He said CHINA DELIGHT can prove difficult to settle if pushed early and therefore he was asked not to be aggressive on CHINA DELIGHT in the early stages.

He said after beginning well, in accordance with his instructions, he shifted CHINA DELIGHT across behind runners in the early stages, however, the horse proved difficult to settle and got it head up on a number of occasions due to the slow tempo of the race.

A veterinary inspection of FLYING IBIS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings, however, the horse was unable to be scoped due to being fractious.

A veterinary inspection of WINNAM immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

ACTIVISM and OCEAN POWER were sent for sampling.
