Recap by phillip woo

Favourite Santa Fe Sun was handy in the run with some cover from an awkward gate, quickened to hit the front four deep at the 250m and kept on gamely to hold the fast-finishing Rewarding Hero for a fourth win from his past six starts, despite a step up in distance. Rewarding Hero made his run fourth from the rear and near the inside, angled off Autumn Gold for clear running six deep at the 200m and quickened nicely to make it close at the wire. Autumn Gold travelled without cover in midfield, made a nice bid five deep until peaking on his run 50m out. Chater Dream dictated the running one off the rails, cornered a length on top and grudgingly gave way when headed. Punted late, Enthusiasm travelled effectively one out, one-back, stayed near the inside upon straightening and had every chance to get up for a First-4 spot. Dalwari made his run to the outside of Rewarding Hero, swung the final bend with two wider out and came up one-paced over the final 200m with money coming for him late. Victory Master settled one off underneath Autumn Gold, straightened three deep and failed to lift under the left whip. President Lincoln was patiently ridden third from the rear along the rails, straightened four deep, angled into the clear with two wider out at the 250m and only kept on past beaten rivals.

Racing Incident Report

Race Ten: (481)-SUPER SATIN HANDICAP - Class 2 - 1600Metres

When proceeding to the barriers, D Whyte was momentarily dislodged from SANTA FE SUN.

On arrival at the barriers, it was noted that SANTE FE SUN had blood in its mouth.

A veterinary examination of SANTE FE SUN found that horse to be suitable to race.

REWARDING HERO began awkwardly, resulting in the horse turning its head to the right after the start was effected and making contact with the inside gate.

PRESIDENT LINCOLN and JUN GONG bumped at the start.

ENTHUSIASM stumbled at the start.

Passing the 1200 Metres, CRAZY BUDDIES was awkwardly placed close to the heels of DALWARI.

After the 800 Metres, SANTA FE SUN was left racing wide and without cover.

Rounding the Home Turn, PERFECT CHEERS was awkwardly placed close to the heels of ENTHUSIASM.

When questioned regarding the performance of GLORIOUS SUNDAY, O Doleuze stated that it had been intended for the horse to be ridden quietly from barrier 12, nonetheless the horse began very awkwardly and shifted out abruptly shortly after the start.

He said he had to ride the horse along in the early stages to make up lost ground and joined the main body of the field.

He said GLORIOUS SUNDAY travelled satisfactorily in the middle stages, however, after being shifted out into clear running at the top of the Straight did not respond to his riding and, despite being placed under pressure, weakened noticeably in the Straight.

He added the manner in which GLORIOUS SUNDAY failed to close off the race indicated to him that it may be experiencing internal issues.

A veterinary inspection of GLORIOUS SUNDAY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

The performance of GLORIOUS SUNDAY was considered unacceptable.

Before being allowed to race again, GLORIOUS SUNDAY will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

SANTA FE SUN and REWARDING HERO were sent for sampling.
