Recap by phillip woo

Cour Valant settled fifth and one off the rails, angled into the clear four deep at the 250m and quickened well to get up 50m out for an overdue win at his 13th start. Punted late, Silly Buddies went forward this time from a wide gate to sit outside the leader The Prince, advanced to the front 250m out and grudgingly gave way late. Key Witness was ridden for luck fourth from the rear along the rails, cornered one off without clear running until the 150m and finished up nicely thereafter. Tonyboy settled behind midfield and one off the rails, cornered three-to-four deep and never had a clear shot over the final 150m. Withinmyheart was patiently ridden third from the rear and one off the rails, pushed widest out at the 300m out and was doing some nice work late. The Prince dictated the running from a wide gate, cornered a half-length on top and was collared the last 100m. Step Faster settled midfield and three deep with cover, swung the final bend widest out and kept plugging away without menacing. Plunged late, Hearts Keeper settled midfield along the rails after a sluggish break, had no clear run when staying to the fence upon straightening and gave up the chase 200m out.

Racing Incident Report

Race Six: (487)-LUARD HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1200Metres

Shortly after the start, HEARTS KEEPER was crowded for room between STEP FASTER and TONYBOY which was taken in by AFFLUENCE OF RAIN which shifted in despite the efforts of its rider.

Also shortly after the start, COLOURFUL PROFIT was crowded for room between WITHINMYHEART and KEY WITNESS which shifted out.

In this incident, KEY WITNESS became unbalanced after being bumped on the hindquarters by COLOURFUL PROFIT.

After being shifted in to a position behind COUR VALANT one horse off the fence approaching the 1000 Metres, STEP FASTER commenced to over-race and got its head up when being checked away from the heels of COUR VALANT near the 950 Metres.

STEP FASTER then shifted out away from the heels of COUR VALANT and continued to prove difficult to settle.

TONYBOY, which was following STEP FASTER, was awkwardly placed close to the heels of that horse for some distance approaching the 900 Metres.

Passing the 900 Metres, COUR VALANT was steadied away from the heels of SILLY BUDDIES which shifted in when just clear.

Near the 300 Metres, KEY WITNESS got its head on the side and shifted in towards the heels of HEARTS KEEPER.

KEY WITNESS was then awkwardly placed inside TONYBOY for some distance prior to the 200 Metres.

Approaching the 100 Metres, TONYBOY was disappointed for running between SILLY BUDDIES and COUR VALANT and because of this was not able to be properly tested all the way to the end of the race.

Over the concluding stages, WITHINMYHEART got its head on the side and lay in under pressure.

Throughout the race, AFFLUENCE OF RAIN travelled wide and without cover.

A veterinary inspection of HEARTS KEEPER immediately following the race confirmed the horse to be a "roarer" which had previously been reported.

KEY WITNESS, COUR VALANT and SILLY BUDDIES were sent for sampling.
