Recap by phillip woo

Travel Brand was patiently ridden at the tail of the field after jumping sluggishly, angled widest out at the 400m and let down willingly to mow down favourite Khaya in the shadows of the post for the win. He enjoyed the fast pace and every inch of the rare marathon trip. Khaya eventually settled one-out, one-back, swept to the front four deep at the 300m, had a near three-length margin at the 200m and found one too smart in the end. Lucky Forever made his run third from the rear and one off the rails after hopping in the air at the jump, shifted off the heels of a flat Ashkiyr with two wider out at the 300m and finished well to get up 50m out for a placing. Wayfoong Express settled behind midfield along the inside, took closer order at the 900m, straightened one off the rails and ran on steadily to grab fourth close to home from Ashkiyr, who made his run near the back but did appear to peak on his run 150m out carrying top weight. Approve enjoyed the box-seat behind the good pace of Sunny Ying, pulled out with every chance and failed to see out the trip. Sunny Ying knocked up at the 200m after getting pestered through good fractions on the lead by Liberator, who was throwing out distress signals at the top of the straight.

Racing Incident Report

Race Eight: (552)-MEDICAL TRAINING HANDICAP - Class 2 - 2200Metres

As the start was effected, LUCKY FOREVER, which had been restless in the stalls, reared and consequently lost ground.

ASHKIYR and WAYFOONG EXPRESS bumped at the start.

TRAVEL BRAND began awkwardly and was slow to begin.

Approaching the winning post on the first occasion, TRAVEL BRAND was steadied away from the heels of ASHKIYR (A Suborics) which shifted in when not quite clear.

A Suborics was advised to ensure that he is sufficiently clear when shifting ground in similar circumstances.

TAKE TO THE LIMIT travelled wide and without cover until near the 1300 Metres.

The performance of TAKE TO THE LIMIT, which subsequently finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable.

Before being allowed to race again, TAKE TO THE LIMIT will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

ASHKIYR lost its left front plate after the finish.

A veterinary inspection of APPROVE and SUNNY YING immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

TRAVEL BRAND and KHAYA were sent for sampling.
