Recap by phillip woo

Favourite Boy Oh Boy was prominently ridden near the rails, rolled to the lead three deep at the 250m and kept on gamely from the late-running Why Not for a second win from his past four starts after dropping the hood and nose band. Why Not settled beyond midfield and one off the rails, swung the final bend with two wider out and was cutting back the margin with every stride, despite a muddling pace. Asia Rising travelled at the tail of the field, swung the final bend with one wider out and finished willingly to nail the late-fancied Let Me Go for a placing in an improved effort with a gear change to blinkers. Let Me Go settled midfield along the paint, was held up and tight for room until the 150m and ran on steadily thereafter. Supreme Fresh made his run fore of midfield and one off the rails outside Boy Oh Boy, worked to second with three wider out at the 200m, before peaking on his run 100m out. Sichuan Exec was short of room early straight near the inside and kept on evenly thereafter. Starting Over was back to near last approaching the final bend after a deep run and only passed beaten rivals.

Racing Incident Report

Race Nine: (553)-PRIMARY HEALTHCARE HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1600Metres

When proceeding to the barriers, WHY NOT dislodged its rider, A Suborics and travelled riderless to the end of the 1800 Metre chute.

WHY NOT was recaptured, returned to the Start and examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race.

SICHUAN EXEC began awkwardly and then shortly after the start was steadied away from the heels of BOY OH BOY which shifted out abruptly.

ASIA RISING began awkwardly and got its head up on a number of occasions shortly after the start.

After being left racing wide and without cover after the 1400 Metres, STARTING OVER was steadied and taken back to a position with cover at the rear of the field.

Near the 350 Metres, MARTIAL KING, which was giving ground, was momentarily steadied away from the heels of GOOD CHOICE which was taken in by SUPREME FRESH.

LET MET GO was held up for clear running in the early part of the Straight and then passing the 200 Metres was checked away from the heels of BOY OH BOY when attempting to improve into running between that horse and REAL SUPREME where there was insufficient room.

When LET ME GO was checked, it shifted in, resulting in REAL SUPREME, which was giving ground, being momentarily crowded for room.

When questioned, J Moreira stated that SICHUAN EXEC, after being obliged to race further back in the field than had been anticipated, was held up for clear running from near the 300 Metres until after the 200 Metres.

He said at about the 150 Metres he was able to shift SICHUAN EXEC to the outside of LET ME GO into clear running and as he believed that he had no reasonable chance of obtaining a place, he elected to ride his mount along hands and heels in the run to the line rather than using the whip on the horse.

J Moreira was reminded of his obligation to fully test his mounts all the way to the finishing line where circumstances permit so as to leave no room for query.

A veterinary inspection of SICHUAN EXEC immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

BOY OH BOY and WHY NOT were sent for sampling.
