Recap by phillip woo

King Derby settled behind midfield and three deep without cover passing the 700m after a sluggish break from a wide alley, circled the field to take closer order at the 600m, swung the final bend with two wider out and took control 100m out for the win. Well-punted late, Hayhay tracked the leaders in third and one off the rails, straightened three deep and got up 50m out for second. Rank outsider Golden Bauhinia rolled forward from an awkward gate to settle one off in second at the 850m, straightened five deep and stayed on well for a placing. Spitfire was given an easy time on the lead, cornered near two lengths on top and was giving ground over the last 100m. Kingston Jumbo eased back to travel midfield along the rails, rallied four deep and kept up an even gallop when popped the question. Plunged in betting at the jump, Winning Boy travelled third from the rear and two off the rails with cover, came to the final bend widest out after making his move 500m out and ran finished up without menacing. Early favourite Mister Marc was eventually able to slot in one-out, one-back, swung the final bend with three wider out and was only one-paced over the final 200m. Red Courage settled nicely in midfield and one off the rails, angled into the clear with three wider out at the 200m and failed to lift when asked for a response.

Racing Incident Report

Race Two: (557)-KING'S PARK HANDICAP (Sec2) - Class 4 - 1200Metres

GLORY HORSIE, which was fractious in the barriers, was slow to begin and shortly after the start was bumped by PERI PERI SAFFRON which shifted in when being taken across behind runners from a wide draw.

BEST JADE TRIUMPH and MISTER MARC bumped at the start.

BEST JADE TRIUMPH then shifted in and made contact with WINNING BOY, causing both horses to become unbalanced.

A short distance after this, WINNING BOY was steadied away from the heels of PROSPERITY AETHON after being bumped by that horse which was taken out by RED COURAGE.

Near the 1100 Metres, PERI PERI SAFFRON got its head on the side and shifted in away from WINNING BOY and in doing so bumped GLORY HORSIE, causing both horses to become badly unbalanced.

Then making the turn, GLORY HORSIE, which remained unbalanced, shifted out, resulting in PERI PERI SAFFRON being badly crowded for room inside WINNING BOY which also became unbalanced after being bumped on the hindquarters by PERI PERI SAFFRON.

In this incident, GLORY HORSIE lost ground after becoming badly unbalanced due to the contact with PERI PERI SAFFRON.

As there was no rider error involved in this incident, no further action was taken.

Near the 900 Metres, PERI PERI SAFFRON lost ground when crowded for room between GLORY HORSIE and WINNING BOY, both of which shifted ground when racing ungenerously.

Near the 700 Metres, KINGSTON JUMBO was awkwardly placed close to the heels of HAYHAY.

Near the 650 Metres, MISTER MARC got its head up when awkwardly placed close to the heels of GOLDEN BAUHINIA.

Making the turn after the 600 Metres, BEST JADE TRIUMPH got its head on the side, hung out and lost ground when being checked away from the heels of KING DERBY.

PERI PERI SAFFRON, which was following, was checked away from the heels of that horse in consequence.

Also making the turn after the 600 Metres, GLORY HORSIE was steadied away from the heels of PROSPERITY AETHON when awkwardly placed behind that horse.

Near the 150 Metres, T H So (PROSPERITY AETHON) drooped his right rein.

Over the concluding stages, BEST JADE TRIUMPH was steadied when crowded for room between KINGSTON JUMBO and PROSPERITY AETHON.

A veterinary inspection of PERI PERI SAFFRON immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

A veterinary inspection of RED COURAGE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings, however, the horse was unable to be scoped due to being fractious.

KING DERBY and HAYHAY were sent for sampling.
