Recap by phillip woo

Favourite Ambitious King led as expected from gate three, cornered four deep just over a length on top and kept on gamely for a second straight win on this surface in good time. Master Kochanwong settled on the back of the leader, straightened three deep and was pulling back the ground with ever stride to make it close on the wire. He'll be winning soon. Double Glory settled fifth along the rails, came one off upon straightening and kept plugging away to finish up a non-threatening third. Able Warrior made his run one off the rails in midfield, rounded the final bend five-to-six deep and ran on steadily to inject value into the First-4. Punted late, Dehere's The Love was ridden cold from a wide gate, stayed on the rails upon straightening and lost his chance when having his momentum badly checked underneath Double Glory at the 200m. Clancy Avenue settled worse than midfield near the rails, made some ground four deep early straight, before coming up one-paced over the last 100m. Excitable Boy was handy in the run and one off the rails and kept on evenly over the last 150m. Specked late, Oriental Prosper made some ground late down the outside without menacing.

Racing Incident Report

Race Three: (566)-DAISY HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1200Metres

SLICK BULLET was withdrawn on 20.4.14 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter ORIENTAL PROSPER.

Before being allowed to race again, SLICK BULLET will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

The start was delayed when the tongue tie applied to AMBITIOUS KING required refitting.

Shortly after the start, SEA WARRIOR raced tight between EXCITABLE BOY and CLANCY AVENUE which shifted out.

Despite being ridden along in the early stages, ORIENTAL PROSPER failed to muster speed.

From wide barriers, DANEWIN TIGER, DEHERE??S THE LOVE and ALL FRIENDS were taken across behind runners in the early stages.

Making the turn near the 600 Metres, DOUBLE GLORY shifted in and brushed the running rail.

Approaching the 400 Metres, DEHERE??S THE LOVE was awkwardly placed close to the heels of CLANCY AVENUE.

Y T Cheng (DOUBLE GLORY) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that for some distance approaching and passing the 200 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in, causing DEHERE??S THE LOVE to be checked and lose the running to which it was rightfully entitled after the 200 Metres.

Y T Cheng was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Sunday, 11 May 2014 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays).

The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Sha Tin racemeeting on Sunday, 4 May 2014.

In assessing penalty, the Stewards took into consideration that Jockey Cheng had been unable to ride for a significant portion of the current racing season due to injury.

AMBITIOUS KING and MASTER KOCHANWONG were sent for sampling.
