Recap by phillip woo

Favourite Grand Harbour settled midfield along the rails, came one off soon after straightening, hit the front at the 200m and staved off the determined Superking Dragon for a maiden win at his eighth start with a step up in distance. Superking Dragon stalked the even pace of Jolly Good Star to his outside, straightened three deep and kept on gamely to make it close at the wire. Hey Cheer settled ahead of midfield and one off the rails, rounded the final bend five deep and got up 100m out for a placing. Oxford Charley recovered to settle behind midfield along the rails after a slow break, came one off at the 500m, straightened three deep and finished well to grab a Quartet spot 50m out. Punted late, Activism travelled fourth from the rear from a wide gate, was behind a wall of horses four deep upon straightening, angled into clear running at the 300m and was doing some nice work thereafter. Smart Union swung the final bend with two wider out and ran on steadily without menacing. Jolly Good Star came to the final bend a neck on top and was yielding ground 200m out. Thumped late, Mr Marfach made ground from near the back without ever looking a chance.

Racing Incident Report

Race Five: (568)-HEATHER HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1800Metres

As the start was effected, OXFORD CHARLEY lifted its front feet off the ground and consequently was slow to begin.

MR MARFACH began only fairly.

GRAND HARBOUR began awkwardly.

From a wide barrier, ACTIVISM was taken across behind runners in the early stages.

Near the 1100 Metres, SUPER HORSE lost its left hind plate.

At the entrance to the Straight, ACTIVISM was shifted out after being awkwardly placed close to the heels of LOVING STAR which commenced to give ground.

MR MARFACH had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the Straight.

Approaching the 350 Metres, DRAGON BACHELOR raced in restricted room between SUPERKING DRAGON and HEY CHEERS when obtaining tight running between those horses.

Over the concluding stages, OXFORD CHARLEY was steadied away from the heels of SUPERKING DRAGON (H W Lai) which shifted in under pressure.

Because of this, OXFORD CHARLEY could not be ridden out to the end of the race as it normally would be.

H W Lai was severely reprimanded for failing to stop riding and straighten his mount.

Also over the concluding stages, GRAND HARBOUR hung in towards the running rail.

For the majority of the race, SURE CHAMP travelled wide and without cover.

A veterinary inspection of SUPER STRIKE and DRAGON BACHELOR immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

GRAND HARBOUR and SUPERKING DRAGON were sent for sampling.
