Recap by phillip woo

Favourite Formula Won was patiently ridden behind midfield and one off the rails, improved his position three deep at the 500m, swung the final bend with one wider out and took control 150m out for back-to-back wins. Noble Boy sat on the back of Formula Won in the run, swung the final bend widest out and finished willingly to get up a clear second. Firming late in betting, Kokoda settled on the leader's back, briefly grabbed the lead three deep at the 200m and found a couple too strong in the drive to the wire. Jun Gong travelled ahead of midfield and one off the fence, swung the final bend six deep and stayed on reasonably well to make the frame. Riyadh travelled second from the rear, rounded the final bend five deep, angled into the open with two wider out at the 150m and ran on steadily thereafter. Emperor Claudius settled effectively one-out, one-back, straightened five deep and kept on one-paced over the final 150m. Amazingly travelled underneath Formula Won, straightened three deep and made some ground without menacing. St Yazin stayed to the fence after a ground-saving run in midfield and came up flat when asked for a response. Punted late, Grimmy was tested for the lead by Danewin Express, cornered narrowly on top and was stopping 150m out.

Racing Incident Report

Race Six: (589)-SUFFOLK HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1650Metres

ST YAZIN began only fairly and shortly after the start was crowded for room between FORMULA WON and NOBLE BOY which shifted in.

RIYADH began awkwardly.

From wide barriers, FORGIVE AND FORGET and AMAZINGLY were taken across behind runners in the early stages.

Passing the winning post on the first occasion, ST YAZIN shifted out abruptly, became unbalanced and was awkwardly placed inside the heels of LUNAR RISE.

Making the turn near the 1000 Metres, KOKODA got its head on the side and shifted out towards the heels of EMPEROR CLAUDIUS.

Both FORGIVE AND FORGET and AMAZINGLY lost their respective left front plates after the 800 Metres.

Making the turn near the 600 Metres, KOKODA raced tight inside EMPEROR CLAUDIUS which got its head on the side and lay in.

At the entrance to the Straight, JUN GONG, which was inclined to lay in, was awkwardly placed close to the heels of EMPEROR CLAUDIUS when being shifted to the outside of that horse.

Approaching the 250 Metres, JUN GONG, which continued to race with its head on the side, shifted in after being bumped by FORMULA WON and made contact with the hindquarters of EMPEROR CLAUDIUS.

JUN GONG then raced tight between EMPEROR CLAUDIUS and FORMULA WON.

At the 300 Metres, ST YAZIN became unbalanced when initially reluctant to improve its position into tight running inside GRIMMY.

ST YAZIN then raced awkwardly as it established its position inside GRIMMY.

In the Straight, EMPEROR CLAUDIUS hung in and proved very difficult to ride and close to the finishing line shifted in and bumped AMAZINGLY.

A veterinary inspection of GRIMMY immediately following the race revealed the horse to be lame in its right front leg.

Before being allowed to race again, GRIMMY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

A veterinary inspection of ST YAZIN immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea.

Before being allowed to race again, ST YAZIN will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

FORMULA WON and NOBLE BOY were sent for sampling.
