Recap by phillip woo

Speedygonzalez has remarkably made it five wins from his past six starts following a step back in distance with a return to blinkers. He settled fifth along the rails, stayed to the inside upon straightening and got up in the final few strides for the win. London Walk led until taking the sit in third at the 800m, rounded the final four deep, assumed the lead 50m out and found one just too good in the end while just weather a late storm from Hong Kong Dancer, who finished up willingly five deep after travelling worse than midfield and one off the rails. Cheers Joy bided his time fourth from the rear and one off the rails, switched outside Speedygonzalez at the 100m and stayed on well to add value to the Quartet in a vastly-improved effort. Favourite Nordic One was posted three deep in third without cover early on, rolled to the front at the 800m, cornered nearly two lengths on top and was stopping 100m out. Nearly halving his earlier quote, The Prince tracked the leader one off, straightened five deep and was yielding ground 150m out. Sumarand Dragon travelled behind midfield and one off the rails from a wide gate, rounded the final bend with one wider out and failed to make an impact with money coming for him late. Super Plus never really did get going with some late-market support.

Racing Incident Report

Race Five: (607)-JAPAN HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1200Metres

HONG KONG DANCER began awkwardly and shifted out at the start and in doing so bumped the hindquarters of CHEERS JOY which became unbalanced.

ULTIMATE WINNERS was slow to muster speed.

From a wide barrier, SUPER PLUS was taken across behind runners in the early stages.

After being crossed by THE PRINCE approaching the 1000 Metres, ALL GREAT FRIENDS, which was having its first race start in Hong Kong, proved very difficult to settle and got its head up on a number of occasions when being checked away from the heels of THE PRINCE.

ALL GREAT FRIENDS then continued to prove difficult to settle for some distance.

Making the turn after the 1000 Metres, MI SAVVY was left racing wide and was subsequently steadied to obtain a position with cover.

A veterinary inspection of SUMARAND DRAGON immediately following the race revealed the horse to have bled from both nostrils.

NORDIC ONE, SPEEDYGONZALEZ and LONDON WALK were sent for sampling.
