Recap by phillip woo

Tipperary Davor was well-rated on the front, dashed three lengths clear coming to the final bend and just had enough left in the tank to hold Humongus for the win. Humongus settled three back along the rails, shifted three deep to launch his bid passing the 200m and finished nicely to make it interesting on the wire. Favourite Mobile King enjoyed the box-seat run, popped one off upon straightening and kept plugging away to come out a clear third. Viva Guy stalked the leader one off, was left flat-footed coming to the final bend, cornered four deep and only held his ground in the run to the wire. Early favourite Starlit Warrior settled behind midfield along the rails, stayed near the inside upon straightening and only made a mild bid. Dark Secret settled one-out, one-back, straightened five deep and failed to lift when popped the question. He didn't appear to handle the wet going. Hear The Roar settled three back and one off the rails, straightened three-to-four deep and came up one-paced over the final 200m, despite a drop in grade. Jolly Good settled third from the rear along the paint, shifted four deep upon straightening and never was a factor.

Racing Incident Report

Race One: (639)-FRANCE GALOP OWNERS DEPARTMENT HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1800Metres

TOP POWER was withdrawn on 20.5.14 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (right fore tendon injury) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter JOLLY GOOD (H W Lai).

Before being allowed to race again, TOP POWER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

HEAR THE ROAR began only fairly.

STARLIT WARRIOR and MOBILE KING bumped on a number of occasions shortly after the start due to STARLIT WARRIOR shifting out.

After this, despite being ridden along, STARLIT WARRIOR was slow to muster speed.

From a wide barrier, CHANTILLY was taken across behind runners in the early stages.

Near the 1250 Metres, DARK SECRET got its head on the side and shifted in momentarily, resulting in HUMONGUS being crowded for room.

Making the turn at the 600 Metres, STARLIT WARRIOR became unbalanced after shifting in of its own accord and making contact with the running rail.

Passing the 250 Metres, HUMONGUS was shifted to the outside of MOBILE KING to obtain clear running.

Over the final 100 Metres, HUMONGUS got its head on the side and lay in under pressure.

A veterinary inspection of HEAR THE ROAR immediately following the race revealed the horse to be a "roarer" which had previously been reported.

A veterinary inspection of DARK SECRET immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

MOBILE KING, TIPPERARY DAVOR and HUMONGUS were sent for sampling.
