Recap by phillip woo

Firming favourite Hit A Home Run was able to find the rails in midfield from gate seven, shifted out four deep at the 300m after being held up early straight, sliced his way between runners at the 150m and wore down Positive Energy 20m out for a maiden win at his 14th start and only second for the David Hall yard. He can win another. Positive Energy was posted deep without cover near the speed from a wide gate, worked to the front three deep at the 170m and kept on gamely in a second positive run following a move to ear plugs. Goldweaver crossed to lead from gate 13, came to the final bend a length on top and grudgingly gave way. Hear The Roar settled second from the rear, angled into the clear with three wider out soon after straightening and ran on nicely to finish level for fourth with Sledge Hammer, who kept plugging away, despite laying under pressure over the final 200m, following a one-off-the-rails run from behind midfield. Global Fame made some ground without menacing.

Racing Incident Report

Race Two: (685)-IWC HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1400Metres

HEAR THE ROAR began only fairly.

KING ON EARTH began awkwardly.

From the outside barrier, ALL MY BENEFIT was taken across behind runners in the early stages.

At the 1200 Metres, TAI PO FORTUNE was crowded for room inside DRAGON CHOICE which was hampered when taken in by YOU AND M (A Suborics).

A Suborics was severely reprimanded and advised to ensure that he is sufficiently clear when shifting ground in future.

Approaching the 1100 Metres, TAI PO FORTUNE got its head up when being steadied to allow YOU AND ME to cross.

After the 1000 Metres, LOTUS LOVE was left racing wide and without cover.

For some distance after the 700 Metres, SLEDGE HAMMER, which was travelling keenly, was awkwardly placed close to the heels of LOTUS LOVE.

At the entrance to the Straight, HIT A HOME RUN was hampered after making heavy contact with the hindquarters of DRAGON CHOICE when attempting a tight run between that horse and YOU AND ME which shifted out marginally.

Then near the 400 Metres, HIT A HOME RUN was checked away from the heels of DRAGON CHOICE which, after becoming unbalanced due to contact on its hindquarters, then got its head on the side and shifted in.

NEWS SUPREME, which was following, was inconvenienced as a consequence.

As the Stewards were of the opinion that there was no rider error associated with these incidents, no further action was taken.

In the early part of the Straight, SLEDGE HAMMER got its head on the side and lay out under pressure.

A veterinary inspection of TAI PO FORTUNE and YOU AND M immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

HIT A HOME RUN and POSITIVE ENERGY were sent for sampling.
