Recap by phillip woo

Punted late, Spitfire sat third and one off the rails, angled four deep for a clear run at the 350m and got up to prevail by a lip over Jolly Spring for a first win at his 14 th start. Jolly Spring travelled worse than midfield and one off the rails, swung the final bend with two wider out, rallied nicely to poke his head in front passing the 50m and was nipped on the wire. Thor The Greatest rushed to the front from a wide gate, cornered a length on top, nearly tripled his advantage at the 250m and grudgingly gave way late in a much-improved effort at his sixth start with the blinkers removed. Psychologist was posted four deep from a wide gate while trying to slot in from behind midfield early on, swung the final bend widest out and rallied reasonably well to snatch fourth from Secret Agent, who kept on all right along the inside following a prominent run along the rails. Flying Red only held his ground over the final 150m as a false favourite after failing to place in six prior starts but could get away with a race in Class Five next season.

Racing Incident Report

Race Three: (742)-LEI YUE MUN PARK HANDICAP (Sec2) - Class 4 - 1200Metres

WATCH OUT began awkwardly and lost ground.

SIGHT SEEING, which was leaning on the outside of it stall, began awkwardly.

Shortly after the start, FLYING RED was bumped by SECRET AGENT which shifted out.

From wide barriers, STAND BY YOU and WIN CHANCE were shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Near the 900 Metres, WATCH OUT, which got its head up on a number of occasions when proving very difficult to settle, was steadied away from the heels of NATURAL EIGHT (K C Leung) which shifted in.

K C Leung was advised that whilst WATCH OUT had contributed significantly to this incident, nonetheless he must ensure that he is sufficiently clear of other runners when shifting ground.

Also near the 900 Metres, WIN CHANCE was steadied away from the heels of SOUTHCHINA COMMAND.

Passing the 900 Metres, SIGHT SEEING was left racing wide and without cover.

STAND BY YOU raced greenly in the early and middle stages and rounding the Home Turn hung out and bumped SOUTHCHINA COMMAND on a number of occasions, causing that horse to become unbalanced.

Over the concluding stages, FLYING RED was awkwardly placed close to the heels of JOLLY SPRING which shifted in.

Also over the concluding stages, SECRET AGENT was awkwardly placed inside the heels of SPITFIRE.

J Moreira (FLYING RED) was fined $3,000 for improper use of the whip in that he raised weal marks over the horse's right stifle.

A veterinary inspection of SIGHT SEEING and CITY POWER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

FLYING RED, SPITFIRE and JOLLY SPRING were sent for sampling.
