Winger Frank Halai, who played one test for the All Blacks, will join Wasps from the Auckland Blues for the next European season, the English Premiership side announced on Monday.

Tonga-born Halai scored a try in his lone test against Japan in 2013.

The 26-year-old made his Super Rugby debut for the Blues earlier that year, against the Hurricanes, and ended the season as the competition’s leading try-scorer.

Halai, who previously played for Waikato in the ITM Cup, has also represented the All Blacks Sevens side – including at the Hong Kong Sevens – scoring 30 tries in 33 games.

“Frank is incredibly strong and powerful, with great pace and he has already shown his potential through playing for the All Blacks.

“Being able to attract players of Frank’s calibre, in their prime, is a reflection of the upward curve the club is following,” Young added.
