All Blacks Sevens overpower England to win their home tournament

Schoolboy Rieko Ioane scored two tries as New Zealand beat England 27-21 in Saturday’s Cup final at the Wellington Sevens. It was the fourth time in five years that the All Blacks Sevens have won the home leg of the HSBC Sevens World Series.

Schoolboy Rieko Ioane scored two tries as New Zealand beat England 27-21 in Saturday’s Cup final at the Wellington Sevens.

It was the fourth time in five years that the All Blacks Sevens have won the home leg of the HSBC Sevens World Series.

New Zealand outscored England five tries to three to post their first tournament win in four rounds of the 2014-15 season. With the win they climb to second place in the overall standings behind South Africa, who beat Scotland in the third-place playoff.

New Zealand had beaten England 24-5 in pool play on Friday and their win in the final was equally emphatic.

It’s massive. We haven’t won a World Series tournament yet this year and so to win one in our home town is pretty awesome
