Australia’s ACT Brumbies will look to make ground on inactive Super Rugby leaders Wellington Hurricanes when they take on the Blues in Auckland on Friday.

The unbeaten Hurricanes cannot be overtaken at the top of the overall standings this weekend as their nearest rivals Waikato Chiefs also have a bye along with the Melbourne Rebels.

The unchanged Canberra-based Brumbies have won on two of their last three visits to Eden Park and prop Scott Sio is expecting a torrid forwards battle with the inconsistent Blues on Friday.

"One of the points that came out of our meetings was that six of their eight forwards are All Blacks. They have a wealth of experience and you can’t take that away from them," Sio said.

"If you have a look at their games, they haven’t lost a game by more than 12 points this season.

Auckland will be without experienced All Blacks prop Tony Woodcock with a head injury.

The last time the two sides met in April last year the Brumbies kept the Blues try-less in a 26-9 win.
