All the bells and whistles: Hong Kong Women’s Premiership signs first-ever stand alone corporate partnership

The three-year deal will see players receive internships and also give coaches given access to state-of-the-art analytical tools

The Hong Kong Women’s Premiership is looking to use its first stand alone corporate partnership – a three-year deal with KPMG – to increase the profile of the women’s game in Hong Kong.

As a result of the partnership announced this week, coaches will have access to the company’s state-of-the-art Insights Centre for post-match reviews and there will be opportunities for players through an internship programme.

“Having a partner of the calibre of KPMG is a huge boost for the profile of women’s rugby in Hong Kong,” Hong Kong Rugby Union (HKRU) director of women’s rugby Kim Boreham said.

“It is the first time that the women’s rugby league has actually had its own corporate partnership and that is a testament to the strength and increasing profile of women’s rugby in Hong Kong.”

The partnership goes beyond that of a traditional financial sponsorship, with KPMG agreeing to assist the HKRU in promoting the women’s game through their social media and other digital platforms.

The internship programme will offer opportunities for women’s players to work within the company, consolidating the HKRU’s dedication to developing their players both on and off the field.

“For a local women’s rugby player to have the opportunity of an internship at one of the largest professional services companies in the world is a huge thing,” Boreham said.
