Hong Kong made light work of a South Korean squad 47-0 at the final day of the Asia Rugby Sevens Tournament Qualifier for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
Held at the Guangzhou University Town Sports Stadium, Hong Kong ended up second in their group behind China, who they lost handily to on Saturday.
Hong Kong now need to beat Asian giants Kazakhstan later today or their Olympic hopes are over. If they do win, they will likely face China in the final with the winner booking their place in Tokyo.
Seventeen-year-old Anna Birkett, who made her Hong Kong debut yesterday, led the way with two tries and multiple conversions from the boot.

Chloe Chan, 20, who got her first cap for Hong Kong during the Asia Rugby Sevens Series, and also had two tries against South Korea, said she’s felt a lot more confident with experience under her belt.
“I think we’ve played really well these first three games, we dropped off a bit against China but we played well against them in the first half. We watched some tape last night and I think we can beat them, I think we have a chance against them.”

Hong Kong will now play Kazakhstan at 1.14pm. The Central Asian side won their group, which also featured Singapore, Thailand and the Philippines.
Hong Kong head coach Iain Monaghan said they tinkered with their game plan against South Korea in advance of possibly tweaking some things against Kazakhstan.
“We were a little bit experimental in our selection this morning and the girls responded and performed well under pressure so it definitely now opens up some options for us moving ahead.”
