Philippines’ HK Maharlikans were victorious in the men’s section of the Hong Kong edition of the Fat Boy 10s charity tournament.

The event, whose proceeds support rugby development in Hong Kong, Laos, and the Philippines, as well as medical missions in the Philippines, saw 20 men’s, women’s and veteran teams involved from Hong Kong, Macau, mainland China and the Philippines.

On the women’s and veterans sides, however, it was local sides who charged to victory at Hong Kong’s King’s Park on Saturday.

HK Dinosaurs came out on top in the women’s section, while the top veterans side – whose players were over the age of 35 – was Valley.

So far, organisers Pot Bellied Pigs RFC have raised an estimated HK$6 million from hosting the annual Fat Boy 10s tournament. The Hong Kong edition has been running since 2021 with its Filipino counterpart a staple since 2004.
