Tigers hope new recruit Tyler Spitz can help end winless streak

Rugby life for Tyler Spitz in Hong Kong has started back to front: having first represented the national team, he'll now turn out for his club.

And Borrelli Walsh USRC Tigers hope he is the man to stop a winless run of one-and-a-half seasons when they face Bloomberg HK Scottish at Shek Kip Mei on Saturday.

Hong Kong-born Spitz made his international debut against Russia last Saturday having arrived a few days earlier from Australia.

Tigers' coach Chris Davies is unsure if the former American Eagles sevens player will start.
"I have been small all my life, so I have had to learn how to compete with the big boys", says Tyler Spitz.

"Tyler will play in the midfield and will bring a vast amount of experience to the squad and is certainly a tough player with a hard-hitting edge to his game," Davies said as Tigers go in hunt of the Broony Quaich.

"But there is some stiff competition with Sam Purvis and Vern Parkes playing well in other rounds despite the results and as tempting as it seems, as a coach its important to get him settled rather than throw him straight in."
