Skipper Mark Coebergh scores but Hong Kong fall 26-7 to Fiji at World Rugby U20 Trophy
The scrum half’s try levels the scores just after the break but Andy Hall’s side fall away in the final 30 minutes
Hong Kong endured a tough start at the World Rugby U20 Trophy in Uruguay this morning, with Andy Hall’s side losing 26-7 to Fiji in their opening match.
An even first-half saw Hong Kong trailing 7-0 at the break and things looked bright early in the second period, with scrum half Mark Coebergh finding the try line.
Full back Matt Worley added the extras to lock things up at 7-7 after 49 minutes and the game looked to be anyone’s.
However, Fiji regained the lead soon after and added to their lead with tries on 71 and 76 minutes.
Hong Kong will have a chance to bounce back on Saturday when they face Portugal, who edged the hosts 20-18 in the other pool B match in Montevideo.
