Hong Kong’s men brushed aside South Korea on Sunday, wrapping up the Asia Rugby Emirates Men’s Championship for the seventh year running.

The city side ran in seven tries in the 45-9 rout, with No 8 Jack Bartlett grabbing a brace, scrum-half Brendon Nell running in a fine solo effort, and Sunia Fameitau, Charles Higson-Smith, Dean Rossouw and Murray Brechin also crossing.

Korea, meanwhile, never came close to breaching the Hong Kong defence and were limited to three first-half penalties from the boot of fly-half Bu-Hyeon Jeong.

The performance stood in stark contrast to the 15-14 win over Sri Lanka two weeks ago, although there was a pleasing symmetry about Hong Kong’s final try.

In Colombo, Dean Squire’s cross-field kick allowed replacement prop Billy Ng to touch down in the corner to earn the win.

On Sunday, McCann’s cross-field kick to wing Brechin put the exclamation point on a victory long since secured. The full-back then missed the conversion, bookending a personal performance of 10 points scored with the boot, and 10 missed.
