7. Jonah Lomu, New Zealand

Quite possibly the most famous rugby player on the planet, Lomu turned up at the 1994 Hong Kong Sevens as an unknown and left as a star after helping New Zealand to win their first Cup since 1989. The teenage giant with pace to burn played again in 1995 and 1996, and over his three tournaments at Hong Kong Stadium he never once tasted defeat.

6. Waisale Serevi, Fiji

Hong Kong first saw Serevi’s outrageous talent in 1989 and before the Fijian hung up his boots in 2007 he had held the Cup aloft seven times, including the RWC Sevens events that were held here in 1997 and 2005. He also received the Hong Kong Sevens’ best-and-fairest player award – the Leslie Williams Trophy – on three occasions and was named RWC Sevens player of the tournament both times.

5. David Campese, Australia

Following his 1983 debut, Campo excelled at the height of the 1980s golden era during which Australia dominated at So Kon Po. And even after becoming a global household name, “Too Easy” kept coming back to play in the tournament he enjoyed so much, making his final appearance at the Hong Kong Sevens in 1998.
